5. Hard to Hear

Brianna POV

I just stare at her as she stops talking. I feel like I've been hit in the face, and I'm not sure what to say.

That story It's just so hard to imagine a mother not wanting her kid. I'm assuming the mother never found out her dad was a werewolf, and he probably found his mate. I'd assume that's why he left, but of course, i can't be sure. However, as I think about it, he still wouldn't abandon a child. I wonder if he even knew about her, and I decided to tell her that he may not have and suggest we see if we can hunt him down sometime in the future. I realize I haven't spoken yet, and I open my mouth, but no words come out. I try again, and this time, I can speak.

"I'm sorry I'm trying to imagine this but in our world that just isn't heard of parents protect there young I don't think I've ever heard of a wolf parent hurting there own child and if someone else does the parents go crazy and defend there children. This is all good to know. Im sure my dad will appreciate the details, and my mom will smother you with hugs she's very caring like that. I guess we will see. I kind of thought they'd be here by now."

Annalise POV

I do a double take as I had been looking at her then the fireplace, and I say, " But it's only been a few hours since we meant, and you told them. wouldn't it take longer than a couple of hours?" she shakes her head and shrugs " not normally they are in Tennessee that's where we are from and dad has two private jets he can be here in an hour and a half anytime he wants to so I mean I'm just wondering if I was wrong about them coming not that it would bother me we could just take the rest of dinner to a homeless shelter or something for people who need it."

Suddenly the front door opens and two people that don't look much older then thirty walk in and she runs to them saying "Mom ...Dad"and I stare how can they be her parents they don't look old enough to be. Brianna is laughing and saying "I thought you guys would come so i ordered alot of food for all of us encluding the guards how many did you bring" Her mom smiles and says " Mr Over protective brought fourteen this time they are everywhere out there." He shrugs." Can't ever be too careful. I also tightened security at home and added three times the guards while we were away."

I watched the family moment as they hugged and talked. I found myself wishing I'd had that. When suddenly all eyes turned towards me. Brianna smiles and says, " Mom Dad, this is Annalise. If all goes well tonight, she's gonna be our new roommate and basically my sister from today on." her dad looks at her like she's lost her mind and says," What did you say honey? "

Her mom clears her throat and gives her dad a look kind of like be nice, and she walks over to me smiling as she reaches for my hands and pulls me to the couch where we sit down together. Brianna says, " Do you mind sharing your story with them too?" I smile slightly, although im sure it looks sad, and I retell my whole story her mom gasps and pats my hand a few times. When I finish, she seems close to tears, but her dad seems unimpressed.

Brianna says, " Now do you guys see why I want to help her ? She has no one to turn to, and I feel like she's family." I smile she's just amazing. Just then, her dad says, "A few vans pulled up out front." Briannas phone rings, and she smiles as she says," The food is here. " Then the doorbell rings. Brianna greets the woman at the door as food starts being brought up.

She looks at the receipt and mouthing words as the food is brought in. There are about six delivery guys and a woman here. Then Brianna's dad and a few of the guards help bring in all the food the guards get half, and the rest was in here on any surface we could find .Brianna nods her head says one minute to the woman at the door. Her Dad and Mom stand Smiling talking with the woman. Brianna goes to her purse, pulls out a wad of cash, then she goes out of the room, and when she comes back, the wad is way bigger, and she walks to the door smiling. It was more money than I've ever seen before, and she's just gonna hand it to a pizza place.

Brianna stops at the door and says, " It's more than we discussed on the phone. I double-checked, but if you'd like to count it, that's fine too, we don't mind." The womans eyes widen as she shakes her head no and says," it's fine thanks we will be leaving now." Brianna hands her the money, and she shoves the giant pile in her purse to hide it, I'm assuming as she walks back to the vans. They close the door, and then we all grab plates that were included with the food and dig in. We talk and laugh about random stuff.

They tell me things about their home and pack. Brianna explains a few since I was raised by a human. She's saying, " So as I explained earlier, my Dad is Alpha Albert Dagon, and our packs name is the Diamond Moon Pack. There are so many other packs but we can teach you that later if you decide you'd like to learn more. My mother is our Luna Carla Dagon. My brother, as the first born and only son, will be taking over as Alpha. I think I told you earlier about him his name is Brian and he's away at an Alpha training camp."

They tell me a little more about packs how they live in big communities and ask what I think about it and I say " It sounds great I've never been part of anything really it was just me and my mom. She never wanted me, so I was basically alone. A big community that cares about each other sounds amazing to me." Brianna smiles and I think she winked at her mom and then she said " Don't get us wrong there can be issues packs fight with other packs and that could get bad enough to cause attacks on each others packs. Also, rogues can attack sometimes, but that's why packs are needed for protection and to help each other.

There are still trivial things that can happen, like petty women being mad or jealous, like an example when my brother Brian meets his mate. This is a good example because when he meets her, she will probably have it a little rough. The reason i say that is a lot of women in the pack want the next Luna spot. Now, most will back off and be respectful since it's his mate that the moon goddess Selene gave him. We tend to follow Selene's plan, and most will be happy about that. A goddess given mate means the pack will be stronger, but some women can't handle it when it's not them, so they can be rude or mean. Also, kids' fighting and school issues are normal, not really allowed, but it still happens, like you know mean names, not including kids in some activities. I don't know, just basic bullying, I guess. We cracked down on it, and it is getting better, but I'm sure it's still happening. Hopefully, we will get to a time it's not an issue anymore."

Carla sighs and says, "We can hope it stops, but kids are kids, and they don't all listen. I don't know. That's always been tough. No one wants to hear that omega children are being bullied at school or that the kids ignored a child because her family was new and the poor girl cried in the bathroom all day. It's so sad that's why if I hear about anything like that I visit the school just to spend the day with whatever kids are bullied and it makes them feel better. I love the smile on their faces, and I always tell them about my school years, how I understand how it is because my family moved a lot. My dad was the third son of an Alpha, so we didn't really need to be around. Dad liked it that way because we could choose a pack that was perfect for our family, and we did. We found a pack not far from where my future love lived. " As she said that, she looked at her husband with so much love in her eyes as he smiled back at her.

Though she never stopped talking, "when he visited looking for his mate and found me, of course, the rest is history. We mated and marked each other, and not long after, I was excited to learn I was pregnant. We hoped for a son for the new Alpha to be announced and selene blessed us with beautiful twins. " She smiles and reaches to Brianna, and I do a double take and say," Umm, Brianna and Brian are twins?" Brianna laughs." Oh, I must have forgotten to tell you that part yea fraternal twins, but yea, we are twins. He is taller than me now and was blessed with Black hair and bright green eyes. It's strange, but my brown hair and brown eyes came from Dad, obviously, and my brother got his from Mom again, obviously. I've always wondered why, but I'm sure there's reasons why things happen the way they do."
