One Week Later

Aslan jumped into the car cursing. He was breathing so heavily as if he had just ran a marathon, but the news had shook him. He hit the accelerator, changed the gears, and in a few seconds, his Bugatti was gliding on the road at 120. He was honking and people were giving him ugly looks, but did he care? He was still drunk from last night. No, from every night for the last week. The meds too had stopped working on him. He was looking like a ghost, hair tied behind his head, shabby beard, and bloodshot eyes.

He broke the signal and closely grazed a car in front of him, but managed to get past. It took him 20 minutes to arrive at the church, but they felt like an eternity.

In the church, the man and woman stood in front of the chaplain as he kept conducting the wedding ceremony, but the words were meaningless for the woman. It was none other than Elena.

Elena stood there in a white mermaid gown with a small veil and a small bouquet of white roses in her hands
