Chapter 5

Danika

"Wake up."

"Wake up, child."

A soft voice surrounded me all of a sudden. I opened my eyes. Light streaking through the slit as I tried to focus.

Suddenly, I woke up in the forest. I looked down but I am still naked from last night. The bruises disappeared, the pain gone as if it never even happened.

"Where am I?" I squinted when I saw a white wolf peeking in the woods.

I stood, not taking my eyes off the wolf when it moved.

"Don't be afraid, little one." the wolf spoke in the same, soft voice that awakened me.

"Who are you?" For some reason, though, I didn't feel afraid.

"Why am I here?"

The wolf with white, silky fur stalked towards me.

"That is exactly my question to you," she replied. But my brows knit at her answer.

"What do you mean?" my brows knit.

She halted in her paws and sat on ground in front of me. The wolf was huge, and when it sat it looked even taller than when it was in all fours.

"Why are you, still, here?" she asked the same question. Her voice reverberated through the air. Something about her presence, her form, the way her fur glowed under the glistening moon, told me what I needed to know.

"Moon goddess?"

The wolf smiled, leaving me stunned.

"Why... How?"

I looked around and saw no sign of the pack house anywhere. It only meant one thing. I am in a dream and the moon goddess is in it.

"Your prayers will not go unanswered, little one,"

I sobbed, letting go of all emotion as I crashed my body against her fur. Her scent soothed me like no mate bond possibly could. Her scent was one embedded in all of us at the moment of our birth, for it is her we came from and her we will return. I just wanted to stay in this dream and never wake up, knowing I would only face hell afterwards, I would rather not return.

I choked in my sobs as I drowned in my own grief, only now knowing how desperate I was for some sense of warmth, peace, and comfort. I was dying to feel the same after my parents died, and one day I hoped that my mate would give that to me. But I was wrong.

I buried my face in her soft, silky fur and sobbed nonstop when I felt a small hand caress my hair. I gasped and pulled back to see the face of our moon goddess herself. She is just as beautiful as they described in the books, maybe even more because I have never met anyone so stunning in my life.

She smiled, but there was a hint of pain in her smile.

"Moon goddess?" I wiped my own tears and held her hands that cupped my face.

"I am sorry, little one, for the mate that disgraced you, the pack that turned its back on you, but I am here and I will help you."

I blinked back tears as pain crashed into me. The memories flooding back into me as I experienced them all anew.

"I will help you change your fate. You must," she said almost in a whisper, like a secret that must be kept only between us.

"How?" my lips trembled, I gripped her hand.

"You must leave the pack, but only temporarily and seek refuge in the Lycan King's side,"

My brows shot up to my eyebrows and my eyes widened at her.

"The Lycan King?"

She nodded her head and her eyes glistened with tears, but not of fear. Hope.

"The Lycan King will take you in. You have to trust him," She said like the words she spoke did not just sent a shock waves across my skin.

The Lycan King is known for his cruel ways in punishing those who disobey. Some tortured, some even impaled and their headless bodies left for display in the gates of the kingdom he ruled with an iron fist. I can't leave the pack to enter those gates that scream death itself!

"I can't!" I refused as tears rolled down my cheeks.

She cupped my face tighter and whispered in her soft voice, "This is your chance to change your fate. Tomorrow, you will see. Take the opportunity, and once you have, I will come to you,"

She pressed her forehead against mine, but as soon as her words set in, the world vanished. Darkness crept in before I forced myself to wake up to my original world.

My eyes widened as I sucked in deep breaths, hauling my battered and bruised body off the cold floor. The pain came back with a vengeance and it made my body throb.

Just as I suspected, I was back in my room.

It was all a dream.

"Moon goddess?" I called in a whispery voice but nothing.

With a heavy sigh, I got up and dragged my weak body in the shower. I hissed as the cold water hit my spine. I looked down and saw that the blood had turned the water pink. I sighed and tried to let the cold water soothe my skin. A few minutes later, I heard a crash right outside the bathroom.

"Where is she? Where is that f*cking b*tch?" a venomous voice bounced in the tiles of the bathroom. My breath hitched.

Linda.

  • She Is The Luna   Chapter 135

DanikaWhen I am done sucking in air and my breathing becomes stable, I force myself to look at him. His memories haunted me still. The torture, the pain, everything. I couldn't remember at all when my parents died or the Alpha. All my memories were reset as if they were a distant part of me, then I recall the moon goddess mentioned she had my memories erased. "Hunter's father entered you and him into a blood bond. Not even a mate's blatant rejection, could break it." "But why me?" I manage to say.He looked away and settled his gaze on the houses below, which looked more like a land devastated by a typhoon then followed a drought."I have thought about that for a long time," he muttered under his breath."When he rejected you, I told him not to. That he should just take you as luna and respect you as such. But he refused. He hated his father so much that he would not take a luna and even let the pack suffer out of spite. He was blinded by rage, by a past that haunted him even in

  • She Is The Luna   Chapter 134

DanikaThe memory is distant for me. But it's fresh in Hunter's mind. What is it about this day that he can't forget? In this memory, I could hear his thoughts and feel what kind of emotions he was feeling at this moment.I step closer so I could hear him whispering in his thoughts.'She's a rogue! Why did father choose the lowest breed for a luna? I will not allow this.' He growled angrily. He is livid, but there's an emotion he's trying to keep at bay. Something he is hiding underneath all that rage...'Why does father choose the most unfortunate soul to torture alongside me? She can't be my luna. If she will, she dies.' I gasp hearing these words. There is so much anger, and so much sadness. And what does he mean, torture? His father had been torturing him? How?Another memory playing beside this one began to play. I look at it and felt my knees go extremely weak they drop to the surface. His father, along with other men, had him hanging by the wrists covered in blood. They surro

Chapter 133Danika"What do you suggest we do? It is done. Our daughter..." I could hear my mother as if she suddenly turned weak, lips quivering and voice trembling in absolute fear. My heart tugged in my chest. All this time Mom was trying to look strong, but it is only ever in my father's arms that her walls seem to break, almost willingly. I peeked around the railing, standing on my tippy toes. I could just about make out my father wrapping one strong arm and then another around my mother's back and waist."I know." He whispered.Arriving at the pack house, my mother's hand trembled slightly on top of mine. She would smile and give me advise on the many things I ought to do and not to do inside the pack house, but I could tell she was just afraid. Even now, I didn't quite understand my father and mother. Why are they so nervous? And what is it about the Alpha's son?I have never seen him in person. My parents insisted I be homeschooled, so I had no social life whatsoever. This is

  • She Is The Luna   Chapter 132

DanikaIt was almost ten years ago. My parents wanted me all dressed up and ready in time for the party. It was light and intimate. Mom didn't tell me why I needed to go to the party. Just that my presence was somehow part of something important while they discuss matters within the family.I remember I was in my room. My mother was brushing my hair that reached below my waist."I don't get it. Why do I have to go?" I asked, looking at her face in the mirror as I faced my vanity. Mother and I looked nothing alike. I noted. At the time, I assumed it was merely because I was the first descedant of the beta family. She sighed, probably growing tired of me asking the same question for about thirty minutes straight."You will see, my child. You will see," she tossed me a smile.I slumped my shoulders and groaned. "I don't want to go, Mom." I complained. Up to this point of my life, I have never thought I was a spoiled child. But this memory makes me question that belief."Hush, the Alp

  • She Is The Luna   Chapter 131

DanikaI blinked, and looked down to see hands instead of paws. A pair of shoes stopped just a few meters away, and sure enough, Hunter was staring down at me."Was it you?" But, I don't understand. How did he do that? His gaze was set hard on my face until a cold wind grazed my skin. I shivered. But then I realized if I had shifted, I had nothing on.Before I could blink, something was tossed onto my face. Glancing at it, it is a shirt. My eyes flicked up to him for a moment. Relief coursed through me when I see that he isn't looking, and had turned his head to the opposite direction of mine."Get changed. We have a lot to discuss." The deep growl in his voice alerted me once again, it wasn't him, but his wolf.I quickly threw his shirt over my head with one eye open. He did not make any sneaky movements. I don't feel like he even wanted to peek. It made me relieved as I tried to smooth the cloth down my body, but it did little to hide my soft curves and nipples sticking out stub

Chapter 130DanikaEmma’s peach, honey-blended scent wafted to my nose. My gaze flicked down to the tiny little thing. Arms spread out protectively as if they were enough to stop any wolf ready to charge at me at this moment. However, as I watched the wolves bound for attack just a few moments ago, I realized they had stopped, pacing the floor as they whined.Their claws scraped the floor, wolves running on adrenaline yet they appeared reluctant. Then my eyes drifted to Emma. They are afraid to hurt her.“Enough. She is pack,” Emma did not once raise her voice, and the calmness of her tone seemed to extend to the wolves pacing back and forth as they shifted back.“She’s a demon! Look at her,” a woman among the crowd sneered, pointing a dirty finger at Anika then Aniya.“That may be so. But you forget, the Alpha brought her back knowing this, what do you think he would do if he found out what you just attempted here?” They all but flinched at her words.“Don’t you think this is someth
