Rhett moved onto the seat across Alastair's after all the other diners exited the dining room except for Alastair. "Tensed?" Since Alice approved of her plan to guide a slave to that forbidden cemetery, he has been unusually reticent.

"Is it even worth my redundant thoughts?" Alastair wondered, resting his chin on his palms. Alice had been prepared for the battle against him. She was hellbent on winning the throne, the position and power.

Studying the concerns in his eyes, Rhett let out a soft chuckle. "Are you worried?" As Alastair reached for his wine on the table and looked at him for an explanation, he continued. "You always think of worth and stuff like that whenever you are worried about something." It had been his habit for a hundred years already.
