The witches were on their way.

That thought caused my heart to speed up, a shiver of dread sliding down my spine. I inhaled a calming breath. I had set everything into motion, I'd be damned if I backed out of the ride now.

I picked at the material of my duvet. One day left. One day, and I hadn't figured out a way to get this f*cking restraint off. I needed my powers.

Standing, I paced the empty room, going over to the dresser to glower at the reflection of the metal in question. The last rays of the evening sun glinted off it.

Grabbing the front clasp with both hands, I tried to force it open. Not stopping until my palms were ridden with reddish welts. A frustrated sigh tore out of me and I dropped my hands away, resuming my frantic pacing.
