‘Shit!’ I cursed lightly as my skin got scalded as I rammed my hand into a hot cup of coffee.
‘Hell shit! I'll be damned!’ I cursed even loudly.
“Language, Callie! Language!” My mom yelled at me and I hissed more before dabbing off the stains from the table and placing my hand under running water to dampen the burning sensation.
“We're gonna be late for school Callie, hurry up!” A female voice called out from outside.
I grabbed my backpack, threw it on my back and sprinted out of the house, waving my mom and baby brother goodbye. I got into a car and shut the door behind me.
“You're early today princess.”
“Shut up and drive Xyla!” I snickered.
Xyla chuckled and ignited the car engine, driving away from the hood. “You look hurt, boy are you in a mood today!”
“I burnt my hand with hot coffee, how stupid can that be?” I complained bitterly and she laughed at me. I threw her a friendly punch and she chuckled, we both laughed and gisted all the way down to school.
She pulled over at the parking lot and we both got out, luckily; we got to school ten minutes early. Barely had we stepped foot in the building that we were surrounded by other girls.
“Hi Xyla, it's nice to see you back in school.”
“Your hair looks beautiful.”
“You've changed your car?”
“You look refreshed!”
I smiled bitterly, seeing that all the attention was on her but she grabbed my arm and drew me closer, sending off a subtle message that I was with her and the girls frowned, seeing this and made some lame excuse before leaving.
“It's good to be back at school, isn't it?” I asked her, rhetorically.
“C'mon Callie, we just resumed a new semester, cheer up!” Xyla advised me as we walked towards our classroom. We have the same classes this semester so we're going to be basically inseparable.
“If it isn't my fairy princess.”
We looked up to see Tyler, a teenager around our age, jet black hair, slick kicks, a decent outfit and a face to die for approach us. He wrapped his hands around Xyla’s waist and kissed her fully on the lips.
“Tyler.” She moaned against his lips.
I chuckled embarrassedly and excused myself, going into the classroom.
“Hi Cal, looking hot!” Tyler shouted after me and I acknowledged him with a gentle nod. He's Xyla's mate and ever since they realized this last year, they've been madly in love.
I got to my seat and sat down quietly. There were other students gossiping and bragging about their holidays and whatnot and I rolled my eyes, repulsed.
“If it isn't Calliope, Xyla's personal servant. What are you doing here? Haven't your scholarship ended?” A tiny and irritatingly high-pitched voice mocked.
I looked up to see Thalia, dressed up like a doll with Melissa and Rivera standing right behind her, they laughed at her stupid joke and I rolled my eyes at them.
“Go away Thalia, I don't want trouble.” I warned her, lowly.
“Oh, the poor girl doesn't want any trouble, where did you get your clothes? Isn't it the same ones you wore last semester? So last season.” Thalia insulted, loudly. This drew the attention of other students and they laughed at me.
“Go away.” I muttered.
She brought out a bottle of perfume and sprayed it around me, emptying the entire bottle as if I were stinking. “That's better, this place smells less of lowlifes,”
They were all laughing and I fought the urge to bang her head into the table but she was Thalia Flinch, daughter of Alpha Flinch, the infamously ruthless and powerful alpha of the north, insanely wealthy and shady, it would be like digging my own grave.
“Please, leave me alone.” I whispered as I began to flip through the pages of my note. She suddenly grabbed my bag and rummaged through it. I tried taking it but her minions blocked me.
“That doesn't belong to you! Give it back!” I yelled in despair as she got a hold of my diary, her eyes twinkling with mischief.
“Give it back to her Thalia!” A familiar voice commanded.
Xyla walked in, red-faced and angry. She looked at me apologetically and frowned at Thalia. “What do you think you're doing?”
Thalia snickered, though she was a powerful figure in school, Xyla also had a pretty strong reputation and backing, they never agreed on a thing as Xyla is my best friend and always stood up for me when Thalia strikes.
“The pauper's best-friend is here. It's nice to see that she hasn't rubbed off her ill-luck on you, you should hang out with people on your level, people like me.” Thalia said, shamelessly.
Xyla hissed loudly. “You're way beneath me Thalia and you know that.”
Thalia got angry and opened the diary, reading through the pages. “Dear diary, I am so ashamed of myself today, I could barely afford a pair of new shoes and had no choice than to wear the ones Xyla lovingly gave to me..”
Embarrassed, tears rolled down my face, she was reading out my thoughts. Xyla was pissed and she tried to retrieve the diary but the minions did a good job of blocking her as well.
“I can't help but feel suicidal knowing that I am adopted and never knew who my real parents are…” Thalia continued, laughing as she read it out loudly.
“Give it back!” I cried in horror but no one listened.
“Didn't you hear her? Give the damn book back!” Xyala thundered and lunged against her, she grabbed Thalia's hair but Thalia was able to wriggle free and got a hold of me instead.
“Hands off or you'll regret it!” A male voice thundered.
It was as if the entire world paused because we all froze and turned out heads to look at the direction of the voice. A boy tall and handsome well with his hands tucked into his pocket, a frowned plastered on his face and murderous intent walked in.
He looked at me and I could swear that he smiled briefly then turned to face Thalia. “Didn't you hear what I said? Get your filthy hands off!” He snapped.
Thalia immediately let go and I could see that she was scared, she began to chuckle nervously.
“I wasn't doing anythi-.” She stammered but he shut her up with a deadly glare.
“Are you alright?” He asked me and I almost dropped dead. Me? I could feel Thalia's death glare bore into my skin.
“M-me-me?” I stuttered.
He clicked his tongue, snatched the diary from Thalia and handed it over to me, however, he drew me closer and hugged me intimately. “Nice to see you again Callie, God! You smell heavenly.” He whispered into my ears.
Thalia almost buried herself underground and he casually walked over to Xyla and pinched her nose while she stuck out her tongue at him.
“What took you so long? You know how to make an entry don't you?” Xyla threw at him, playfully.
He opened his mouth to speak but a teacher walked in and we all scurried to our seats. He walked up to the teacher who had a huge smile plastered on her face.
“Good morning and welcome back to school students, you have a new classmate and he'll introduce himself to you.” Mrs Salvatore uttered.
“I'm Xandros Xavier.” He introduced, briefly.
There were murmurs and gasps. The name sounded familiar to me and I could swear I've seen him before. I was lost in my thought and looked up to see him pointing at me then walking over.
Alerted, I almost froze as he sat on the seat beside me. I looked at him and he gave me a ghost of a smile which is when it finally dawned on me who he was. “Xandros!” I gasped. He is Xyla's twin brother
Xandros POVIt was surely a hell of a day i was about to encounter today as i sat down in my dining room having some cereal but i lost my appetite to the thought of me getting beaten by Callie in front of all the students in school today, i surely prayed for this day to never come for it had been three days since the incident at the alley and i wasn’t having it easy since then, I felt so depressed.“Why do you look so shitty and moody, Xan? I thought you would be happy that you are getting to beat the shit out of your ex-mate?” Xyla said as she met me at the dinning table to grab her own breakfast, I didn’t reply to her comment.“So finally, someone would get to teach that silly girl a lesson? I’m gladdened beyond explanation” My mom said as she watched both of us for any reaction“Mum! Why are you sounding like that when she’s not the monster in this case, my dear brother is, leaving her broken for five years” Xyla said naggingly“C’mon! Not this issue again!” I yelled as I stood up
Author’s POVXandros paused to think this through if it was something he could live with throughout the semester as he stared into her eyes then he replied“Why do i feel like this isn’t over yet? What is the other thing?”“The second is thing is that I want you to ambush Tyler and attack him since this is something you’re good at doing, just make sure it doesn’t lead to me” She said then he revolted“No way! Are you fucking crazy? What’s your beef with Tyler and what does it have to do with me in the picture?”“Nothing really! I just want to teach him a lesson so he can retrace his steps and stay away from my path, you must fulfill these two things or else your family will get to know the kind of monster you really are and who knows, maybe you might get thrown out of your own pack or lose your inheritance” Xandros stood there helplessly seeing that he had been cornered and without any other choice, he accepted the terms and conditions.“Fine! Just give me some time to get prepared f
Author’s POVXandros was at the location of his family’s bar when he entered and saw Calliope seated inside.“You look stunning tonight” He said then she replied “Of course i always do” She said pompously and then continued her statement “And you look way too dressed for someone who i told to come grab a drink with me, or are you trying to impress me with all these kicks and jacket?” She teased him then defensively he replied“Why would i try to impress someone who already has me at heart, someone who is in love with me but tries so hard to deny it” Then she diverted the conversation to something else seeing it was becoming cringe worthy“Nice kicks though, what are they called?” Calliope said as she pointed to Xandros gray and green sneakers“They’re called the Nike’s Jumpman Series! I could get you one though if you like it” He said then she replied“Why would i let you buy me anything when i have the money to get them for myself?”“Well! This is the limited editions, so it’s har
Author’s POVRowland left the slumy area where he just had a hell of a squabble to the main parts of town where Calliope lived to deliver this new information about the Culprits at hand.Rowland got into a canoe and paddled with a boatsman to the urban area and headed home to Calliope, it was well into dusk and he hasn’t set his eyes on her as he went round the house, he assumed she must have wandered off as usual, he asked one of the maid in the mansion if she had seen Callie but she said she hasn’t set eyes on her neither so he relaxed on the sofa in the living room and waited for some hours for her to return. Finally, she came home and saw Rowland looking ruffled and musty, then she asked him what was going on“You’re back already? You look like shit! What happened there and why didn’t you call me to let me know that you have returned?”“Ohh1 i didn’t want to disturb your outing so i decided to wait for your return” Rowland said as he sipped a small cup of tea which he graciously
