Lia’s POV

I had been followed. Pushing myself up from where I sat, I started to leave the woods. Then I sighted it–a figure. A man figure. He must have intended to hide behind the tree bark. But obviously it was a failed attempt. His body was on the large side giving him away easily.

I could feel my heart pounding because that was the only track path which I could follow to leave the woods. Holding my breath as I walked past there while keeping my face straight to pretend I didn't know he was there.

As if I was being controlled, my legs halted. The familiar scent and aura hit me strongly and weakened my knees. Slowly my head tilted. On its own. And next my body stiffened.

He was looking right back at me.

My lips quivered. “My–my k–”

“Lia.” He finally stepped away from the tree.

“Derrick.” The word finally rolled out. He came towards me, closing the distance yet giving us enough space. My wolf wouldn't stop kicking. Oh how much we'd missed him. My heart clutched.
