The Queen, Devra moved away the second she heard Declan’s voice. The muscle of her face relaxed, like she wasn’t just fuming mad a few seconds ago. I took my time to scanned it, before my gaze shifted at Declan.

“N-nothing, my love. I was just checking up on Eve because she looked… pale.” Devra made up a lie.

The Queen’s tone was soft. So was the expression on her face. She looked flustered, but in a non-malicious way. If I was Declan, I’d definitely believed her. She was too good, and her expression were fatally deceiving. Was she always like this in front of her own husband?

Declan’s eyes moved at me after Devra spoke. He smoothly closed the distance with his steps, and stopped within a few meters. His Lycan smell was reeking… but so was his natural scent.
