A Fit

“WHAT?!”

That was the first reaction Brayden Lucas said over the phone when morning came and Shahila gave him a second phone call for the day. It was unexpected. That’s when he knew there was something serious about that subsequent one.

Shahila had to move the phone away from her ears for a few inches. It wasn’t on speaker but Brayden’s loud voice amplified.

“It was Damon who told me himself.” – he placed a palm on her forehead. He couldn’t believe it… or what’s more suited term would be… he doesn’t want to believe it.

“How sure are you of this?”

“I’m a hundred percent sure. Damon isn’t the kind to tell me lies or pretensions. He trusts me too much.” -Shahila said and bit her lower lip. A pang of guilt eroded over her, thinking of how easy it was for her to betray him behind his back.

“I… wow, this is big news.”

“I know…”

“Thank you for telling me, Shahila. Don’t let them out of your sight. I’ll call you as soon as I thought of a plan.”

Shahila ended the call.
