Chapter 7: It isn’t sexy.

*LYCIA*

“I think you brought me a little too early to this party. Shouldn’t we be fashionably late? You know we are important people,” I huffed making my way up the driveway of Travis’s house. People immediately stopped what they were doing and looked when they recognized me passing them, whispering among themselves.

This wasn’t new and at first it had bothered me but now I thrived in this attention.

“Oh come on, this much is fine,” she said and instead of going towards the dance floor outside she took me inside the house.

“Why are we going in? That’s not where the real party happens, unless of course you want to use one of the rooms for sex with someone,” I said to which she rolled her eyes.

“I know for sure that Dylan is going to be there outside and I don’t have the courage to face him yet,” she sighed at the thought of meeting her ex-boyfriend.

“Well fine we’ll go in first but it’s only because I hate that guy too,” I said entering the house first to get some alcohol filled in her system.

“Hey, Lycia is here, do you think it is true that she and Travis are together?” I heard someone whisper as I was passing them, making me frown and turn to look at Esme.

“Did you hear that rumor? Just because I came to his party people are already assuming that we are together?” I asked with a frown on my face.

“Why do you sound annoyed? Shouldn’t you feel happy? You wanted to get together with him anyways,” she shrugged, not paying too much attention to it.

“What? I am not annoyed, I just thought that they are getting ahead of themselves, things only become official between us when I make them,” I said, realizing only then that I had indeed felt troubled when I heard the girl say that.

“Yes, yes Miss future queen it is a matter of your pride hurting this way,” she said brushing me off as she looked around, “Goddess, sometimes I just don’t understand you.”

Feeling a little better when she didn’t give into my drama and over reacted like anyone else would have I smiled and decided to focus back on her problem. What kind of friend would I be if I didn’t pay attention to it?

“Fine let’s solve your problem first, I already bug you enough with mine,” I said and pulling her with me I headed towards a group of boys who had been ogling us for a while.

“What are you doing?” she asked walking along but gasped when she saw where we were heading, “Oh no don’t you even dare-”

“Hi, boys,” I smiled, cutting her off as we reached the group, “Do you mind if we join you?”

“Absolutely not,” one of the guys grinned at me with a subtle smirk on his face. He was clearly boasting to the others present in the party about the fact that I had approached them first.

He looked handsome but I didn’t like the overuse of cologne that he was wearing and wrinkling my nose I wondered if I had become sensitive to smell myself having been mated to a Lycan.

Wolfie’s natural earthy smell made me feel a lot better than this,

Fuck! Why the heck was I thinking about him?

Getting back to the job at hand I moved my eyes to the guy who had been staring at Esme for a while now. His love sick attention to her made me smile, I was happy to find a man who recognized how truly gorgeous she was.

“Oh where did you guys find the drinks? My friend was craving for one but we couldn't find any yet.” I said looking at the glasses in their hands and then at Esme who leaned closer to me and then pinched me to let me know that she didn’t like what I was trying to do.

She didn’t like it now but soon enough she would thank me, I had a feeling.

“I’ll help you find it,” the guy who had been looking at her took the opportunity immediately like a sport and thanking him I nudged Esme in his direction for her to go off with him.

He was exactly her type and I am sure that they would hit it off.

“So would you like to dance with me?” The guy who had been acting proud before asked me, making me look away from Esme who was now talking and laughing with the guy happily.

Knew it!

“No,” I said looking him in the eye, “I am good.”

With a small smile I then walked away before they could say anything else while that one guy stayed gob smacked at the direct rejection he had received.

“Where were you? I had been looking for you all over since I heard that you had come to my party,” Travis said, meeting me halfway to another table of drinks in the corner of the room.

“Hi, I was looking for you too,” I said, taking in how handsome he looked in his black shirt and gray pants. The top two buttons of the shirt were opened letting his slightly pale skin be visible. His lean muscles were peeking from inside and with the party lights bathing us in different hues, it reminded me of exactly why I had a crush on him.

“Well here is a drink for you,” he said, passing me the glass in his hand and thanking him, I took a sip to check if it was alright to drink it. He must have noticed this because he said, “Don’t worry I haven’t put anything in it.”

“Good,” I said, taking another sip.

“Because I don’t think I need to drug you for what I wish to do next,” he said and pressed closer to me. His tone might have been gaudy but his eyes were mirror to the feeling of nervousness inside him. Something that I fucking loved in my partner. They should be scared and wondering about my next move, always, not the other way around like how other women were.

I don’t want to ever be bothered by that kind of tension; I would rather give it to someone else.

“I’ll give you a chance to prove that you are worth it,” I whispered against his lips and with confidence lighting his irises he flicked them to my lips once and without saying anything else he dipped his head to kiss me.

His lips were soft and hesitant at first but as they became familiar he started picking up the tempo. His hands came around my waist to pull me closer to him.

I liked how we were kissing right now but something didn’t feel right about this. The kiss was missing a spark and so letting him slip his tongue in I tried to take charge and feel better but the result didn’t change much.

Opening my eyes in dissatisfaction I finally pulled away huffing slightly, out of breath from having used so much of my strength in trying to feel something.

What was wrong with me today?

Has it been too long since I partied?

While I was miffed by the kiss Travis looked as if he had been blown away. His eyes were fluttering open a second later since we had parted and smiling idly at me he said, “Wow, they are right about you. You are the best kisser in this coven.”

“You think I don’t know that? Tell me something new,” I said feeling slightly annoyed at not receiving the best experience that I had wished for.

“Well I don’t know whether you are aware of this or not but I am known to be good at something too, would you care for me to show you that?” he asked, twisting me around and pressing his crotch against my hip. From what I could tell he was hard already and I had to agree that it did help lift my mood knowing that I had caused that to happen with only a single kiss.

But what fun would sex be without some intense kissing? I don’t think I could do that with Travis today with how less turned on I was by that kiss.

“Rain check on that? I don’t want to give in so soon,” I said wondering who I should kiss next to make me feel better, “You wouldn’t want our time to end this soon, right.”

Knowing the implication that if we had sex then he was out of my life at once he nodded and said, “Absolutely. So what do you say about dancing with me instead?”

“Don’t try too hard Travis, it isn’t sexy,” I said and sighing in disappointment he clicked his tongue at my words.

“Fine I’ll find someone else,” he said but didn’t let the smile drop from his face. We both knew that we were only in this for the sex and since no feelings were involved, none were hurt. In fact he just took around two steps away from me and whisked another girl in his arms within ten seconds, chatting her up to hopefully have her give in.

“What was that?” Esme confronted me with a pat on my back. I hadn’t wished for her to see that because I knew she would grow suspicious.

“What do you mean and where is that boy toy I set you up with?” I asked, trying to change the conversation before she bugged me about it any farther.

“His name is Ryan and I just left him for a second to find out what exactly is wrong with you?” she said jumping back on that topic making me sigh and peek at the man who was waiting for her standing in a corner while talking to another guy.

“Nothing, it's nothing,” I said, going to the drinks table to fill up my glass with more alcohol.

“No it’s not just nothing, since when did you give up sex? Especially with someone you had a crush on?” she asked, mouthing the word ‘crush’.

“I don’t know, I kissed him but it didn’t feel good and I don’t know, it just put me off,” I said, making her frown.

“That’s weird, I swear I have heard people say that Travis is a good kisser,” she mused, making me scoff at that rumor.

“What do you think piqued my interest in him?” I asked, making her chuckle. Seeing that the guy was now standing alone looking towards her I said, “Well don’t worry I will find someone else to take home and you should do the same with Ryan. He seems like a good guy.”

“If he wasn’t I would have been plotting revenge on you by now,” she smiled and reassured now on hearing that I was back to normal, she waved at me and went back to him.

Deciding to just dance it out on the dance floor outside and pick someone up there if I liked I made my way out. The sound of the baring music filled my ears once again and with every dropping bass I felt the ground below me vibrate with the music.

It was a good thing that a noise canceling bubble magic was casted around the entire property to stop the noise from reaching out entirely or else my mother would have marched down here all the way from home and put us all in the dungeons for having violated the noise pollution policy.

She was way too uptight for a witch but I knew that was the main reason why this coven full of power-bearing creatures was on the right path and civilized today.

Picking up two glasses of drinks, I downed them all at once to let a light buzz take over me. It felt better outside than it did inside and laughing to myself I jumped into the crowd picking the first guy that I found attractive and kissing him.

I soon changed to another after that when I found the first one unfulfilling and then another. When I had given up on kissing for a moment I danced instead, grinding against someone while letting their hands caress me.

This was better…

Finally getting slightly in the party mood I turned with the beat of the music to arch my back into another stranger when I stopped suddenly.

Was I mistaken?

I wasn’t sure and pushing out of the crowd I looked around until I made eye contact with a pair of angry blue eyes.

What was he doing here?
