Chapter 5

Isabella’s pov

“It’s good to see that you’re doing okay.” He smiled warmly at me and I couldn’t help but do the same so that I wouldn't appear tense.

“Thank you for saving me.” I immediately appreciated him while my eyes rovered around the table with different delicacies but now it was just the two of us that were present, my stomach churned hungrily and I couldn’t help but stare at the food wondering where to start.

“It’s nothing, I’m just happy that you’re okay, you need a lot more rest and you will be fine.” He tells me and I nod my head in agreement.

“Why don’t we begin eating, I see you’re craving them.” He chuckled, making me blush slightly at how he could easily tell what I wanted.

“Sure.” I answered before digging right into my food, I didn’t care if it was poisoned because after what had happened to me, I ought not to trust anyone but yet this man was treating me with so much kindness even though he barely knew me.

I took a piece of different food to try out and they all tasted good that I thought my stomach was going to explode because I had overeating, leaning back in the chair I let out a tired sigh and stared back at the man who was still gently eating, I felt so embarrassed that I had done something like this and wanted the floor to swallow me and hid me from this shame.

“So tell me…” he trailed off gaining my attention as he pushed his food aside, so I could tell he was done.

“Tell you what?” I inquired with my brows scrunched up.

“Who you are.” He asked me still with a calm demeanor that now seemed threatening, I reached out for the needle and clutched it tighter hoping he wouldn’t try anything crazy.

“I’m some lady you had found in danger and saved, you could have just left me right there and we won’t have any issues explaining who I am.” I replied , while taking a sip of water with my eyes staring right at him.

“It’s only normal that I help you, but it’s curtsy to introduce yourself.” A smirk formed on his lips as he stared at me with more interest. I felt irritated by his demeanor even though he seemed cool and not much of a threat. I couldn’t help but just hate the existence of men because they tend to ruin everything they get their hands on.

“I’m a lone wolf.” I replied, folding my hands on my chest . “If you’re not okay with that I can as well leave.”

“Sounds like I'm a threat to you even though I mean no harm to you.” A light chuckle escaped his lips as he lightly dabbed his lips and placed the savet on the table.

“You've got an attitude huh?”” Let's see how far this attitude of yours will take you, he said, making my insides shake in fear but I dared not show it outside. I won't give him any reason to look down on me so I maintained my composure.

“I do not wish to answer your question.” I said sternly.

“That’s fine.” He said with a nod, his eyes were still fixated on me as though he was trying to read me, making me feel uncomfortable.

“It’s rude to stare at someone for too long, you know” I blurted out.

“I’m curious about something else.” He leaned forward with his hands clasped together, his eyes keen with interest.

“What’s that?” I questioned with furrowed brows while reaching out for the cup of juice sitting right in front of me.

“That scar on your neck.” He replied simply, his gaze now shifted to my neck, I impulsively used my hand to cover it, I had forgotten that I still had my mating mark revealed, even the dress didn’t do justice to the situation as it revealed my entire neck.

“Just a….scar.” I told him shifting my gaze to the table trying hard not to think about the way Logan had hurt and betrayed me.

“It’s a scar that will constantly be a reminder to keep away from things that don't belong to me.” I smiled sadly.

“Care to share with me what you mean?” He seemed even more curious but I didn’t see the need to keep up with the conversation and wanted to be alone.

“None of your business.” I snapped at him losing control of myself, he didn’t seem fazed by reaction and smiled warmly at me.

“I’m sorry for bombarding you with so many questions, it just seemed familiar.” He apologized, making me calm down regretting why I was overreacting when he hadn’t even done anything to hurt me and the fact that I should be grateful that he had saved me.

Is he usually this calm and kind or he is just leading me into the rabbit hole?I'm pretty sure there's more to kindness than, I asked myself, my mind swirling with so many questions. It seems

“I…it’s fine.” I stuttered. “I apologize for my behavior.” I stood up from the chair and stared back at him.

“We’re not done here, I’m being nice by bringing you to my home only for you to claim to be a rogue.” He says standing up from where he sat, my instincts heightened as I watched him walk towards me intimidatingly.

“What do you mean? I am one.” I said reassuring him.

“I do understand that Rogues are rascals but you? You were wearing a wedding dress when I found you… tell me what happened.” He demanded with his smile slowly fading away as his eyes darkened, I could feel the suffocating aura in the room slowly leaving me breathless. “How can I let someone like you remain in my pack knowing you could pose a threat by not knowing your identity?”

“You can kick me out if you don’t believe me.” I snapped at him while contemplating if it was the right time to take out the needle I have hidden in my underwear to stab him.

Sweat slowly dripped down my face as I was slowly becoming nervous,my hands started trembling with fear, I turned around nervously and was about to leave when I heard his heavy footsteps rush towards me, I hastily took out the needle ready to stab him but before I knew it, I was pressed to the wall with my hands above my head as the needle fell from my hand landing on the floor. His eyes glowed red as he snarled at me causing every hair on my skin to stand in fright.

My eyes widened in shock. What is happening?
