CHAPTER-5: WHAT THE HELL!

‘YOU! I will kill you today..’

No no no!

Someone please save me!

Jordan! Save me!

I was drowning into the deep abyss of darkness with the utmost pain being inflicted on me. No God! I don't want to die yet!

‘Mate! Wait for me!’

‘Pearl, hang on! He will come for you! My baby girl, hang on! He will go around heaven and Hell for you. He needs you!’

.

.

“Pearl…dammit girl, open your eyes…” cold water splashed on my face as I snapped open my eyes. White ceilings greeted my drowsy eyes as I was panting hard like I had run a marathon. Surely, I was running in my dream. No nightmare!

Someone released a big sigh leaning on my face.

“Are you okay?” Annie asked me with a worry written on her face. I blinked up the blurry vision and looked around me. She helped me to sit. I was in a cosy bedroom which I assumed was my cousin.

I held my head while recalling that weird dream and what Kiara was doing in my dream. I had never dreamt about her for the last ten years. She was like a faded memory.

“Are you having a headache?” Annie’s voice broke my reverie and I looked up. She was staring at me carefully and I shook my head.

“Umm. No iam fine. Just thirsty!” She passed me the glass of water which I drank thirstily. My throat hurt with the swallow and I cupped my neck, wincing. And all the previous events I remembered flashed in front of my eyes.

That monster!

“Pearl, can you tell me what happened to you?” Annie asked urgently. I looked at her with horror filled eyes.

“Annie! Oh my god! He almost killed me!” I shrieked but regretted immediately as My throat hurt again. She thinned her lips before calming me down.

“What the hell, Pearl. Tell me clearly. I found you unconscious like a dead body at the airport lounge. People were surrounding you. What the hell happened to you?”

That bloody monster left me dying there after I rescued his child. Was that how He paid me? How could they just leave me after inflicting pain on me? Dad was right, the people here are too cruel.

I told everything to Annie and her face distorted into shock, disbelief and fear in between my storytelling sessions.

“Annie, I don't think he was a human. Could he like..umm..a beast or..”

Annie nodded mindlessly. I bit my fingers in anxiety as my old habit, seeing her freaking out too.

“You need to stay away from these people, Pearl. I can't even decipher what had happened with you but let me tell you. This city is filled with many beasts and inhumane things which nobody knows precisely. I heard once that The ministry here authorized these creatures to live but they are only limited to their clans and territory without harming humans and innocents. We only hear the feral incidents happening around but no source.”

My eyes widened listening to her and fear crept my heart deeply. What the heck?

Oh Jordan! Why did you make me stuck into this?

“Like vampires?” I asked in utter terror. I had read about them in detail and heard about them on my campus. Some curious students were used to studying these supernatural creatures on different continents.

Annie looked at me, blinking.

“I.. I saw his eyes turning red… I read about these vampires….”

“Are you sure?” Annie interrupted me. I nodded. It can't be an illusion, right?

“Yes, Why?” I asked, not wishing to know her answer.

“I don't think so. Because as far as I remember, vampires are prohibited in our city.” She said, making me wish to run away.

“Then what are they?”

“Perhaps… werewolves!” She mused.

“WHAT? Are you kidding me? Do they exist!” I screamed, almost losing my senses. A werewolf nearly killed me.

I looked down in serious thoughts to contemplate my decision to come here now.

“But…”

I snapped my head in her direction. Like she was waiting for me to let her drop another bomb on me.

What now!

“But?” I asked, lowering my chin in anticipation. She sighed like she wanted to be anywhere but here.

“But usually, they don't have red eyes.” She said calmly and calculated my reaction. And I drew out of the duvet she tucked me inside and stood up abruptly in apprehension.

“WHAT THE HELL?” I screamed loudly like a lunatic because I was being the one.

“You..” I pointed a finger at my cousin who pressed her lips tightly.

“What the ludicrous are you saying? I don't understand. You mean, He is something else. Are there other creatures too who can be morphed into shapes? Oh my god!” I was freaking out as I palmed my forehead.

Annie groaned before muttering, “I told Uncle Samson not to send you here but you were as stubborn as rock.”

“Wait! Did you fill their minds to stop me from coming there?” I narrowed my eyes on her.

“That too! because I didn't want you in any trouble here, pearl. Your parents are also worried about you!” She said, standing up and holding my hands.

I sighed in dejection. So they knew about this! But why didn't they tell me about any of this?

“You are really something, huh? Chasing your fiance in another country with a hope to find him. Quite impressive and romantic too!” And then Aanie turned to her usual chirping moods.

I smiled slightly.

“I can't lose him, Annie. Iam afraid he might have gotten into some trouble here as you mentioned those animalistic creatures living among humans. Now His sudden disappearance unsettled me.” I sighed, raking my hand in my hair in frustration.

How come, these grisly animals cum humans exist on this earth?

“Hmm! So you are solely here to find him, even if you have to fight these monsters?” There was a sharpness in her gaze with mirth on her face.

“Maybe!” I shrugged my shoulders. I never move on in my life without proper closure to anyone or anything. If I need to find Jordan in this gruesome city, I would take a chance. After all, I can't waste my visit here or give up on him. My heart won't be at peace just because I ran back fearing these animals.

“Brava girl! Now that's like a real woman who doesn't give up on her man!” Annie patted my shoulder.

“And by the way, they won't hurt you just like that until you offend or denigrate them in any way!” She informed me.

I sighed not wanting to think about them. They can go to hell all I care about.
