Selene's POV

As one of the soldiers entered, I quickly sensed his presence and managed to hide before he could spot me.

“There are reports of a crisis unfolding in the East Coast,” he stated.

While he spoke, Lucian was fixed on me, a mix of confusion and distraction evident on his face.

“Whatever is happening in the East Coast doesn't concern us,” he responded curtly, prompting the soldier to prepare to leave.

“One more thing,” Lucian called out, causing the soldier to halt and turn back.

“Can you see anyone else in this room?” he asked, his gaze landing on me with suspicion, and I realized the reason for his surprise and intrigue. I had never used my powers around him before.

“There’s no one here, sir,” the soldier replied, and he was dismissed promptly.

Once he departed, I emerged from my hiding spot.

“You possess magical abilities too, just like Jessica,” he remarked, astonishment written all over his face.
