I watched as Angelo walked away without uttering a single word. "What was that? He can't even say good morning," I said to no one. He was out of sight like a flash.

What do you even expect, Alessia?

Well, I shouldn't expect any kindness from him. The kiss we shared last night might mean nothing to him. The way he reacted just now showed it all. I should rather blame myself for enjoying the kiss and even wanting more.

I shook my head, discarding whatever fantasy my brain was about to summon. I had overthought a lot last night. Sleep didn't engulf me fast. I kept on thinking, mainly about the kiss.

As I descended, I met with Angelo and his three men standing. "Don't make dinner with us. We'd eat out," I heard Angelo say. He didn't cast a look in my direction and walked away. At some point, I felt a tinge of disappointment at his cold treatment.
