Aryn

Claudia’s eyes didn’t waver when I asked, “That’s all you know about where Arya was?”

She nodded once, slow and deliberate. “Yeah. That’s it.”

I studied her face for a long moment, trying to read the places her words didn’t touch. Her calm was a mask, a well-practiced character designed to deflect and conceal. I knew it because I wore a similar one. The subtle shift in her gaze, the way her fingers fidgeted with the hem of her shirt—these were the tells that there was more but she didn't want to say. “And does anyone else know Arya had a twin?” I pushed, watching her carefully.

Her gaze slid sideways, the corner of her mouth tightening. It was a telltale sign of a lie, or at the very least, an evasion. She was choosing her words, calculating the risk. “I’m not sure. If they do, no one’s said shit to me about it. But…” She hesitated, leaning her hip against my desk, the posture a feigned casualness meant to put me at ease. “I’m certain Isabella had something to do with her dis

Aryn“Both of you,” I said, my voice sharp, louder than I meant it to be. “Sit. The fuck. Down.”I didn’t yell often—when I did, it carried weight. Maybe that’s why, after a tense pause, both men actually obeyed. Liam slid back into his side of the booth, still vibrating with rage, while Lorenzo sank down beside me with the infuriating composure of a king taking his throne. The air between us was a live wire. For a moment, no one spoke. The only sound was the faint hum of the espresso machine from behind the counter. My pulse was a drumbeat in my ears. Finally, Lorenzo tilted his head, his lips curling into that taunting half-smile of his. “Tell me something, Forge,” he drawled, his voice calm but edged with steel. “Do you like my wife?”The words hung in the air like a grenade pin yanked free.Liam’s eyes flicked to mine, then back to Lorenzo’s. His jaw flexed, but his answer came without hesitation. “No. I would never betray Arya like that.”The world stilled.Arya. The name slid in

ArynRosa’s wasn’t exactly the kind of place you went to for privacy, but that’s why I picked it. Too many eyes, too much noise—perfect cover. If I was going to talk to Liam, it wouldn’t be in some dark alley where Marcus could lurk in the shadows, breathing down my fucking neck. The bell above the door jingled when I stepped inside. The scent of roasted coffee beans and fresh bread hit me, cozy and warm, almost enough to calm the storm brewing inside my head. Almost.Liam was already there, sitting in a booth near the back. His blond hair was slightly messy, like he’d run a hand through it too many times. He looked restless, sharp jaw tight, one leg bouncing under the table. The moment his eyes landed on me, he stood up.“Why the hell did you change the meeting spot?” he demanded the second I slid into the booth. No ‘hello,’ no small talk. Straight to business.I shrugged, reaching for the menu even though I didn’t give a shit about food. “Because I didn’t feel like sneaking out with

ArynClaudia didn’t move from the window after that, her fingers tracing the glass like she was touching memories only she could see.“I thought she was dead,” she said finally, her voice softer now. “Everyone did. We buried an empty coffin. We cried over nothing but lies. And then—” She huffed out a laugh, bitter and small. “Then, a month later, I get a fucking letter. From Arya. Saying she was safe. Telling me not to look for her.”I raised my eyebrows. “Just like that?”“Just like that.” Claudia turned back to me. “It was short. No return address. No clue where she was. She just wrote—” Her tone dropped lower, mocking Arya’s neat little tone— “‘Don’t try to find me. I’ll come for you when it’s safe.’”I leaned back against my desk, crossing my arms. “And you listened?”Her eyes narrowed at me. “What the fuck else was I supposed to do, Aryn? Go running around waving a red flag to the people who wanted her dead?”Fair point. I didn’t answer. She went on. “Weeks later, another letter.

ArynI just scoffed at her, loud enough for it to sting.“A duel?” I said, my voice flat with disbelief. “You’re a fucking joke, Isabella.”Her face twisted, but I didn’t stick around to watch her melt down. I turned on my heel and walked away, my boots hitting the marble floor with a satisfying thunk. I wasn’t giving her the satisfaction of more words. She didn’t deserve them.By the time I made it back to my wing of the house, my pulse had settled, but my mood hadn’t. I just wanted to slam my door, maybe take another shower, and pretend this whole goddamn morning hadn’t happened.Except… when I pushed the door open, there was someone already inside.Claudia.She was standing by my desk, flipping through the stack of books I kept there. Not touching them gently either—she was skimming pages like she had every right in the world. My books. My space. Her head lifted when she heard me shut the door. “I didn’t know you read,” she said casually, like she wasn’t snooping through my shit.I

ArynLorenzo sat on the edge of the bed, his dark hair a mess and his eyes wide and vacant. I had a towel wrapped around my own head, and I watched him. He looked like a goddamn lost puppy, abandoned on the side of the road and wondering how the hell he got there.I finished wiping the water from my hair, my movements slow and deliberate. What the fuck happened to him? I thought. Last night, he’d come stumbling in, passed out cold right on my floor. I hadn’t known what to do with him. I’d thought about booting him out, leaving him to sleep on the hard wood, but the way he’d sobbed in his sleep… “Please don’t go,” he'd cried out, over and over, his voice a child’s plea. It reminded me of myself, all those nights on the streets, begging a god that didn’t exist to just let me survive. The thought of that memory was enough to get me to drag his heavy ass onto the bed. I didn’t know what nightmare had haunted him, but it had left him broken.“You okay?” I asked, my voice softer than I inte
