I peeled my eyes open to a bed.

I blinked. My eyes snapping towards the window. I gasped.

I shoved the sheets off of me.

I didn't realize I slept that long.

Cautiously, I walked towards the door and peeled it open.

“Would you like a drink ma'am?" I jumped at the sound of a flight attendant giving me a polite smile.

I shook my head at her.

Rino's head turned from one of the relaxed seats to look at me.

His eyes were blank as he watched me.

I took slow steps towards him. My eyes glancing towards the side.

Micah had an eye mask over her face and she slept in her reclined seat. Louis had documents in front of him and he gave me a tired smile that I returned.

The only empty chair left was the one opposite Rino.

I slided into it, avoiding his gaze.

Looking out the window. The sight was absolutely beautiful.

“My purse." I croaked out. Rino handed it to me without a word.

I took my phone and turned it on immediately.

My guts crushed with disappoint when there was no texts or calls waiting for

  • The Mafia's Rebel Wife    Chapter Fifty-seven

I stormed into my room. I wasn't even angry. I was just exhausted. He's been talking of the past like it was just some inconvenience and incidents we should get over. It was different for me. My past is me. It's been an anchor of my every move. I've had to run, evade and protect myself from that past. The past was like a memory glued to my brain. I thought more of my past and the implications of what would happen if it caught up with my present than I thought of the future. Survival doesn't know tomorrow, all it thinks of is today. A maid walked into the room and helped bring down luggage bags I wasn't even aware I owned. I sat still on the bed, nodding to whatever she said while my soul was disconnected from my word. I brushed my hair behind my ears with a sigh. I was itching to call Mario to ask for any update. Something I could hold on to. If I didn't find my babies. I would break down to pieces. I could feel the storm of the impossible possibility brewing in my mind and

My eyes blinked open. I look to the side to find moving streets. What?I looked to my other side to find Louis in front of the wheel. My head did a 360 around me to find myself in a car.“You're awake.” Louis called out, breathing in relief.“W-what do you mean?” I asked him, my brows pinching in confusion.“You passed out.” He told me, pulling the car to a stop to check on me closely. “I was with Mario.” That's the last thing I remember. We were talking and then suddenly I couldn't breathe.“I came to pick you up and walked in on you having a panic attack.” He informed me, his eyes eying me with worry. “It was quite bad. You frightened dad, real bad. The man could barely speak.” My heart raced.I remember. He asked me to tell Rino about the kids. I swallowed, looking away from Louis.“Is he alright?” Was all I asked.“Yes. I was just going to take you for a check up–”“I'm fine. Let's go home.” I whispered.“Are you sure?” Louis asked, bending to get a good look at me and I nodded,

“Louis will come pick you up.” He said and I nodded, once. Do. Not. Leave without calling me.” He stressed out slow and deliberate like a warning and a plea. Then he surprised me. “Please.” He added at the end.He started his engine and drove away.I stood there, watching the spot where he just was, moments ago.I turned, my arms folded around my protectively like he was the danger. I turned towards the gigantic mansion behind me.There were men as usual lined up heavy. All stoic and stiff. They all probably recognized who I was because they just nodded in greeting and they let me through.I walked into Mario's home. A smile on my face. He never changed the touches he let me make the years I lived here with him.I'd been bored and his house looked like something out of a Halloween night. It was beyond spooky. All I did to do was ask and he let me make changes. The ceiling to wall curtains were pale pink. He was mortified but he didn't say a word, just burst into laughter and patted my

My lips parted as I watched them converse rigidly.Rino's eyes caught me standing by the large open kitchen with Rosa and he held my gaze but I couldn't focus. Were they friends? Partners? It really was true.He was no different from any other made man out there.Angelo's eyes trailed Rino's to find what had his attention and he locked eyes with me.I watched his lips curl with a small smirk. He looked from me to Rino.My hands folded into a tight fist and I grit my teeth…hard. The men reached down the stairs. “Mrs. Garcia.” Angelo pretended to greet and my slithering gaze stayed focused on him.I gave him a mere stiff nod, not wanting to draw any attention from Rino.Did he tell him anything? Did he know?“I want to speak to you.” I called out.He turned and tilted his head slightly, probably wondering when I turned formal and polite.“I'll be back soon.” He nodded.I let out a loud breathe as they walked past me. Rino now stared straight in front of him.My heart clenched.I excuse
