Chapter 49

Hazel’s POV

Every single word he said stung. He was right, why do I keep thinking he was going to bend his rules, go against his contract for little miss perfect?

I sat on the floor as I placed my head on the edge of my bed to cry. I wanted him so bad it hurts, I’d thought I could change him. For months he’s been coming home to me but he just said that meant nothing.

“It’s fine Hazel. You can do this and you don’t need him, you really don’t. You’re only paying him back for his help and nothing more.” I said to myself, leading myself to believe that I didn’t need Damian.

Nothing worked, it didn’t work and I found myself sobbing even harder than I was initially. I dried up my tears with my palm as I tried to look for the ring.

I knew he didn’t pick it up and that it rolled somewhere but I had no idea where, after searching for hours to no avail, I finally gave up as I picked up my phone to call Alesha.

She picked up on the third ring and it seemed like I’d just interrupted her sleep.
