The Moon Won’t Shine On Me

“Katie, it’s great that you’ve come to your senses! When are you coming back? Your father and I will set you up with someone.”I rubbed my eyes. They had turned red from crying.“Let’s do it in a week. I’ll wrap up my work here.”My parents happily hung up.When I returned to my apartment, I packed my personal belongings into my suitcase.I planned to discard the excess.I would also return all the things that Eden had put here.I was not deep asleep at midnight when a pair of familiar hands pinned my wrists above my head.“Katie, you haven’t wished me a happy birthday!”When I opened my eyes, I saw that familiar handsome face.My heart did not flutter anymore. I strongly pushed him away and subconsciously pulled my nightgown tighter.“I’m not feeling well.”Eden made me sit on his lap as his hand slid up the hem of my nightgown.I was very uncomfortable. I could only hide it by pressing my hand down on his.“No way, I’m exhausted.”“But Katie, why can’t I get enough of

Click! Eden fumbled and switched on the light in the room.“Katie, w-why is it you? I didn’t misspeak, right?”Eden had always been terrible at holding his liquor. But he was in such high spirits that he had ended up drinking quite a lot too. When he saw the tears on my face, he tried to come and wipe them away.“Katie, I…”“Eden, where are you? Come out now. They want to make June drink.”Eden immediately became flustered, and he was only able to manage one sentence.“Katie, don’t misunderstand me. I’ll explain to you later when I’m back.”I weakly slid down and sat on the floor. I just let the pain wash over me and drag me into the abyss of hopelessness.Even my breath smelled of blood. I cried in silence. After a long while, laughter from the outside jolted me back.“Did you see Eden caring so much about June?”“That old lady Kate Caesar is really shameless! She really thinks Eden is into her. If she hadn’t been stupid enough to compete with June for lead singer, Eden w

I was not surprised at all.I turned around and quickly walked out of the ward.“Just do whatever you want! I will ask Nash to get someone here to take care of you.”Eden became worked up.“No! Don’t let Nash know! Katie, I’m sorry. I’ll never…”Never abandon me?Or would never fool me like I was an idiot?None of it mattered to me anymore. After I was discharged, I threw all his things in the rubbish bin outside.I even sold the house off hurriedly.Eden had been sending me messages.[Katie, the hospital food is really terrible. I want to drink soup so badly.][Katie, why don’t you visit me in the hospital? Are you mad at me?][I will get discharged as soon as possible. By then, I will give you an explanation. Please don’t ignore me, okay?]I could not understand why he could send these affectionate messages to me while personally taking care of June.[I’m the only person whom Eden loves. You can’t steal him!][Eden would even face death on my behalf. You’re a cheap wo

When Eden heard it, his expression instantly darkened. He grabbed the person’s collar tightly.“Who said you could think about her?”Eden’s provocative actions angered the person.“Eden, what are you playing at? Didn’t you say you were just playing with her and getting payback for June? I wouldn’t lie to her like you. If I got her, I would definitely be more sincere than you!”When Eden thought of me smiling at someone else, and how I would also be forced by someone else to beg for mercy, he lost control. The two of them started beating each other up in front of everyone, and other friends forcefully pulled them apart in the end.“Bah! I’m so sick of licking your boots! Who the heck do you think you are? Do you think you’re great when people call you Mr. Smith? Without your brother backing you and Kate fighting for you, you’re nothing!”That person showed a nasty grin.“And that June, your real love? She’s just a used-up witch. Only an idiot like you would fall for her. Be care
