~▪︎The pack's hospital▪︎~
Michael palmed his face, his legs shaking with anxiety as he sat in the waiting room close to the emergency ward. He had quickly rushed Prisca to the hospital when she kept screaming about being in pain. Beads of sweat trickled down his forehead as he thought about the worst scenarios. He couldn't lose another baby again. Though the first one was his fault, he was willing to make things right by accepting Prisca’s baby. He wasn't even in Kelvin’s life when he was initially born, it can't be the same with this baby. That child had to live. Michael's mind was racing with anger and worry as he thought about Prisca's deliberate actions. Why had she deliberately sought out Kelvin? He had explicitly warned her to leave them alone, but she had chosen to disregard his words. Now, her actions had put his son in a difficult situation, and he couldn't help but wonder what Prisca's ultimate goal was. Now that the worst has happened, what will he do?? How was he going to cope with losing another pup? The mere thought of Prisca’s actions filled him with rage. Kelvin who had followed Louis to the hospital sat close to Michael but his father felt distant from him. How was he going to explain himself when he doesn't want to hear any word from him? The little boy was sad that his father would rather believe someone else than listen to a word that left his mouth so the only thing he could do was cry in Louis' arms. "I didn't do anything to her. She just fell when I didn't even touch her." He croaked out amidst his tears. "Hush.. I know you didn't do it. Stop crying." Louis consoled him as he gently patted his back in a comforting manner. Their small conversation only infuriated Michael the more. He knew what he saw!! Kelvin attacked Prisca but here he was, lying that he didn't and Louis of all people was supporting him. Did he truly crave Fiona’s attention that badly? So much so that he was willing to believe the words of a child—one lying—just to stir something in her? The thought was both infuriating and pathetic. It was hard to understand how far he was willing to go, how easily he clung to falsehoods if it meant pulling her back into his orbit, even for the wrong reasons. "The child isn't lying. You're the one that don't know what you saw." Michael’s wolf said to him. "Wow.. so I'm the liar now?? Kelvin is the cause of what happened.." "How can a little boy of his age attack her to the extent of her losing her child??" His wolf asked back. "Then what made her fall??" "Nothing!! Prisca’s lying!!" His wolf argued. "Enough of all these!! You say she's lying but I saw blood with my own two eyes. I was the one who rushed her to the hospital, not you!!" Michael was seething with anger, feeling betrayed not just by those around him, but even by his wolf. It was as if everyone was conspiring to make him look like a fool. He had seen everything with his own eyes—clear, undeniable. No amount of explanation or reasoning could erase the image now burned into his mind. The frustration simmered deep within him, made worse by the fact that no one seemed to understand—or worse, they refused to. "I hope you realize that I was with you all through and unlike you, I can see beyond things that you can't. You think you're wise but Prisca’s just fooling you again. I hope it won't be too late before..." Michael cut off the link between him and his wolf before he could complete his sentence. There was nothing his wolf would tell him that he would believe because his rationality had been drowned out by the panic of losing his unborn pup. Kelvin’s continuous tears and denial infuriated him so he rushed towards the boy and grabbed him harshly away from Louis' arm. Michael’s sudden pull made the boy stumble forward but Michael quickly steadied him and made him face him. "What is wrong with you?? Why do you keep lying?? I saw you!! You caused this but you're still denying it. When did you turn into such a bratty liar?!?!" Michael screamed at him. Kelvin was startled by Michael’a sudden outburst. The fierce look in Michael’s eyes sent him shivering. This was the first time Michael was acting this way towards him. "What is wrong with you? You are scaring the little boy!!" Louis yelled as he pulled Kelvin away from Michael. "He's my son and I have the right to scold him whenever he does something bad." Michael argued as he tried to go closer to Kelvin but Louis stepped in between them. "Something bad?? He didn't even touch her!!" Michael's scornful laughter turned into a snarl as he slammed his fist into the wall beside him, the force of the blow causing his knuckles to split open and bleed. Yet, the searing pain that shot through his hand was eclipsed by the turmoil brewing inside him, leaving him numb to the physical ache. His anger and frustration consumed him, rendering the pain a mere afterthought. "Why does everyone keep denying the fact that he attacked her??" He muttered to himself angrily. He turned back to face Louis, his eyes red with fury. "You!! What were you even doing there? Did you plan with Prisca to show up at the kindergarten?" He asked as he pointed his index finger at him. "And why will I do that??" "Obviously to get Fiona’s favour. Isn't that the reason you're supporting Kelvin?? I've always known you had eyes on my mate, I just never knew you would stoop so low." Michael said as he eyed him in disgust. Louis couldn't believe what he had just heard from Michael. He had always known Michael to be irrational, he just never expected him to be this stupid too. He stared at Michael silently with a disappointed look on his face. "I came here to take Kelvin and Fiona out for dinner. What I never expected was to see the person you are defending deliberately approach Kelvin and act like Kelvin attacked her, knowing that you will believe it." Louis explained. "So you're saying that she faked everything??" Michael asked with a small scoff. "Yes," Louis answered. "Wow.." Michael chuckled softly. "Then the blood.. how would you explain the blood oozing from her??" Michael asked again. Michael’s question made Louis question Prisca’s motive. If Prisca was pregnant for Michael, why would she go through such lengths to get rid of it? Unless she was never pregnant in the first place!!! But what about the blood?? Then, he remembered her taking a pill before she approached Kelvin. He didn't fail to notice her discomfort after she had taken the pill. It must have been the pill!! She didn't need Kelvin to touch her!! She only wanted the perfect angle to fool Michael. "I saw her taking a pill. I'm sure the pill made her.." "Shut up!!" Michael screamed in anger, cutting Louis off while Kelvin shivered in fear. That was the height of it for Michael. He had been listening to their nonsense for a while now and Louis had the guts to slander Prisca when she was in the ward, fighting for her life and that of their baby. "You bad better hope nothing happens to the baby if not, you both will face the consequences." He threatened, his harsh glare mostly directed at Kelvin who hid in fear behind Louis's back. Just then, Fiona rushed in and quickly carried Kelvin into her arms. She had walked into Michael raining threats on her son, his tone dripping with venom. As Fiona cradled Kelvin tightly in her arms, his small body trembled, and he burst into tears once more. The fear Michael’s actions had instilled in him ran deep, shaking him to his core. His sobs were raw and heart-wrenching, filled with confusion and hurt. Fiona gently rocked him, whispering soft, comforting words into his ear—reassurances wrapped in love and warmth. Her voice was steady, soothing, a quiet promise that he was safe now, that she was here and wouldn’t let anything harm him. Slowly, his cries began to ease, though the pain lingered in his wide, tear-filled eyes. Then, she turned to face Michael. She wasn't sure about what made Michael yell at Kelvin but whatever the boy did to him didn't warrant such an outburst from him. The look in Fiona’s eyes as she stared at Michael was one he didn’t recognize. It made him feel guilty for what he said to Kelvin but for just a short while when he recalled the reason he did it. Kelvin needed to admit he was at fault instead of denying it. The air in the room became chilly as Fiona and Michael engaged in a face-off, and both were willing to admit they were wrong. Prisca paced restlessly, her eyes fixed on the steady stream of students pouring out of the school’s imposing gates. Her nerves were taut, but her focus never wavered. After days of quietly observing Michael’s every move, she had memorized his routine down to the smallest detail. She knew exactly when he arrived, when he picked up Kelvin, and even which path he usually took home. Now, standing there with anticipation buzzing beneath her skin, she waited for the moment their paths would cross—knowing it wouldn’t be long.Today, she came to see Kelvin instead, knowing fully well that Michael would soon arrive to pick him up.The loud screams of the children as they ran happily into the arms of their parents irritated her. She had never been a fan of children so she never bothered to have one for Michael. She had always been on drugs since she didn't want to go through the trouble of having to find out who her child's father was when she eventually got pregnant. She had a lot of boyfri
After attending to the customer, Fiona was about to go back into the kitchen to resume her talk with Prisca when she heard the bell to the bakery's door jingle again. She had already forgotten that there was a long line of customers waiting outside. She looked around in search of an idle staff member but they were all busy tending to the other customers."I need to hire more workers." She thought to herself as she gently massaged her thighs. Her encounter with Michael last night had left her famished. Though she took the drugs he left for her this morning, she still felt weak all over, most especially in her legs. She had thought that she wasn't going to stand for too long at the bakery."Good morning." She heard a soft female voice."Good mor.."She looked up to see a sophisticated middle-aged woman staring at her. She was dressed in a long green grown that stopped at the end of of her knee with a pair of luxurious heels to match. She also put on fancy looking jewelries which highli
《The next day》Fiona's slumber was shattered by the loud revving of a car's engine. Groggily, she sat up and yawned, but her tired body betrayed her as she tried to stand, collapsing back onto the bed with a soft moan. Every muscle ached, and her limbs felt heavy. Her mind immediately swept to last night and her face turned crimson red when she recalled her passionate time with Michael. It lasted for so long because they couldn't get enough of each other. Now, she was the one feeling the pain. She turned to the other side of the bed but couldn't find Michael. She felt his side of the bed and it was cold; which meant that he had left."Where did he go?" She wondered as she managed to sit up. Just as she reached out to grab her phone from the bedside stand, something else caught her attention. Sitting neatly beside the phone was a cup of water, a small pack of painkillers, and a folded note placed carefully on top. The unexpected sight made her pause for a moment. It wasn’t what she h
"Savor your time with my man while it lasts, because it won't be for much longer." The words on the screen seemed to seethe with venom, and Fiona could feel the malevolent intent behind them. The brief text message from Prisca sent an unexpected shiver down Fiona’s spine, instantly disrupting the fragile sense of calm she had begun to embrace over the past few days. The tranquility she had fought so hard to maintain was shattered in a heartbeat. It was as if the air around her grew heavier, pressing in on her chest. Deep down, she knew this moment would come—Prisca was never one to stay silent for long, especially when things seemed to be going well for Fiona. She should have anticipated it, should have known that Prisca wouldn’t allow her even a sliver of peace without interference. She felt pure anxiety as she read the message over and over again. Prisca had just given her a warning. What was she planning now?? Fiona could feel a huge storm coming her way."Are you seriously going
Days had gone by since Prisca's fabricated illness, and Michael hadn't lifted a finger to check on her. Despite her numerous attempts to reach out to him or track his whereabouts, Prisca was met with complete radio silence. After reopening her bank accounts for her, he had been purposely ignoring her. No matter how much she called him, he never picks up the phone and he gave stern warning to his workers at the company to never let her in no matter the circumstances. This was the measure of Michael's commitment to making things right with Fiona. Meanwhile, Prisca seethed with anger and anxiety, fearing that his cold treatment was a prelude to abandoning her once her pregnancy reached its term.Did he want to get rid of her that badly?? After all the promises they made to each other?? They were meant to be mates instead!! Everyone supported their union; his mom and his sister knew she was the right one for him.Everyone gave their support except for his father. He was the only one who d
