Marvin's pov,

“Did you threaten him with that on purpose, Boss? Are you really serious about wanting to marry his daughter in return for waving off his debts?”.

“I mean, why would you do that? Have you forgotten about the smug look on his face when he bragged about the new project his company was handling? Besides, you know he is not going to give his beloved daughter to you except the other one”.

A drop of sweat formed on Jeremy's forehead as he said to me, as if not believing that I could do something like that.

I grinned. Not because of the debt. But because of the treasure I could acquire because of the debt.

The person who had lit up my boring world without even trying.

Thinking about her, made the grin on my face grow dark. “I know he's cunning. And, you are mistaken”.

My eyes darkened, making him flinch, as I corrected him and made one thing clear to him: “I don't care about his beloved daughter. She is unworthy of me and can never bear my heir”.

I soon ran my fingers through my hair, “Since you aren't busy, why don't you pay someone a visit on my behalf?”.

As I said that to him, I rose from my chair. Staring at the silver mask on the desk made me halt. ‘She has no clue it's me’. I thought as I picked up the mask and wore it.

“Now this is better”. I said under my breath, and grabbed my suit from the valet stand.

On my way out of my office, I stood by Jeremy's side and grabbed his shoulder tightly. “Also, remember your place”.

I heard him gulp after saying that to him.

“And tell that bastard if he dares try to find a wife for me again, or match me with one of his puppets again, I will end his life”.

“He should put his attention on his precious son, not me”.

I walked away after saying that to him.

‘That bastard. How dare he?’. I frowned on my way.

How dare he act like he cares about me? After what he had done to my Mom by cheating on her, he ought to be glad that I had not put his head on a platter and served it to the dogs.

But I swear, if I find out that he had something to do with my Mom's death, I am going to kill him myself.

I ripped off my tie and tossed it aside as I thought of that and clenched my fists tightly, to the extent thick blood dripped on the neat tiled floor as I walked.

Georgina's pov,

I was in the bathroom taking a cold shower when I heard the door to my bedroom open with a slam.

I paused, trying to understand what was happening.

And before I could say anything, I heard Claire's impatient voice yelling, “Georgina, Georgina! Where are you?! Get over here immediately! It's an emergency!”.

I sighed in defeat. “What is she doing here?”. I muttered.

“Georgina!”.

She yelled my name again, and this time around, I knew I had to answer her. If not, I was only inviting trouble for myself.

“I am taking a shower”. I said to her.

“Well, I need you right now! Come out!”. She declared, but how could I do that when I was in the middle of a shower?

“Can- can't it wait?”. I asked her, not expecting that the door to the bathroom was going to open as she walked in without any warnings.

Her action took me aback and also made me use my hands to cover my bare chest.

“What are you doing, Claire? I told you I was taking a shower”. I said to her, and dared not raise my voice at her, even after what she had done.

I didn't want any trouble. Not today that I finally got a day off from work.

“I don't have time to wait for you out there, Georgina. Don't you know my time is precious and not to be wasted?”. She said to me. Her voice, harsh, before she smiled out of the blue.

“I got invited for the first time ever to the most popular party, Georgina. I must have been getting popular lately that they invited me”. She said to me, but I remained quiet, as I felt very uncomfortable.

She continued to say to me, not caring that she had invaded my privacy, “Every hot shot you can think of is going to be there. This is a great opportunity for me to expand my career to the next level”.

‘How is that my business?’. I thought and hoped that she would just leave.

Just when I grabbed my bathrobe and wore it to cover my body, I froze as soon as I heard the next words that came out of her lips, “I got two invitations. Am I not lucky? I want you to come with me”.

“I need someone who would help me hold my lovely gown as I walk, and someone to hold my expensive purse. I could not think of anyone else except you, Georgina”.

I hurried to the exit door and opened it, instantly crossing paths with Evans and almost bumping into him. The cell phone in my hand fell to the ground as I grabbed his shoulders. “Tell me. What was the clue you were talking about?!”. I asked him with a shaky breath. I was desperate and needed to hear the answer directly from his own mouth. “Well? Speak already! I don't have all the time to wait”. I demanded impatiently. “Dignolly City. We found traces of doctor Kevin Robert there. At long last!”. Evans exclaimed, and for once, after my heart skipped a beat, I returned to the penthouse and slowly went ahead to take a seat on the sofa. I allowed Evans’ words to reply and sink inside my head over and over ahead. To think Doctor Kevin Robert hid himself in such a place like that. I gritted my teeth thinking about it. “Have you-”. I stared at Evans and tried to say, but I could not finish what I wanted to say, because he interrupted. “Don't worry about that, boss. I have already

“Mom, can't my big brother and I go to school? It's boring staying indoors all the time. Besides…” I noticed Lily playing with her fingers as she said to me. She always did that whenever she was nervous about something and feared that I was going to refuse her. “Besides, what?”. I asked her calmly and was careful enough not to make her more nervous. “I want to make friends. I don't have any”. She replied to me, and for a second, it hit me hard in the chest, because I recognized that I was the one at fault. When we were back in Dignolly City, I had buried myself working at the hospital most of the time. I barely had enough time to spend with her and Lewis. But I was rest assured because I had Maddie and Clara to help me out with that. And with their help, especially with them following my orders, they made sure that Lily and Lewis barely communicated with other kids, and assured that they took educational lessons at home, rather than at a school. I thought my actions were goin

“I have a very important announcement to say. Or rather, I have something important I must say”. I broke the silence in the dining room and said, causing all eyes to turn to me as they stared at me. “Huh. An important thing to say? What is it?”. Clara asked as she directed the spoon containing the soup to the mouth. After she swallowed the soup, she cleared her throat and added, “Why did you not mention this to me in the kitchen? Did it slip your mind?”. “No, it did not”. I replied to her, and taking a deep breath, the look in my eyes turned serious, and my voice changed from being friendly to icy. I said, “Clara, after I returned to the estate, you noticed that something was wrong somewhere with me and asked me about it in the kitchen”. “Yeah, I know. Wasn't it because of that Travis guy?”. Clara casually asked, as she continued to drink from her soup. “No, it was not completely because of him”. I told her, and before she could get the chance to say any other thing to me, I cont

We arrived in the dining room, and as everyone returned to what they were once doing (Before I asked them to leave the living room in the first place), I went to the kitchen to meet Clara. “What are you doing?”. I asked her, as I rested my body against the door frame. “Dinner. I am making dinner for everyone”. She replied to me, then pointing a finger at the chopped onions on the kitchen counter, she said to me, “Can you help me with that?”. I went and grabbed the plate of onions and gave it to her. “Thanks”. She said as she collected it from me and put the onions in the pot of boiling soup. The aroma coming from the pot of boiling soup made my stomach growl hungrily. “Whoa. Calm down. It isn't ready yet”. Clara teased me. “As if”. I replied to her, then went ahead to lean over on the counter, with my elbows resting on top of it. “By the way, I noticed you didn't feel like yourself when you returned. Did something happen when you went to that bastard's house?”. Clara suddenly

I found myself on the balcony, with my arms resting on the railings, as I sighed over and over again. I suddenly began to look back to the person I used to be, before I looked at the current me and asked myself, “Am I cruel? Have I become so cruel?”. I wondered, but looking back at how everyone trampled on me when I wasn't like this, caused my eyes to darken, and I held the railings tightly. “I am not cruel. This is how the world wants me to be”. I declared, before I wiped off the drop of tear that escaped my eye, and I turned and left the balcony. I did not have the time to feel sorrowful or miserable, not when I still had so many things to do. I returned to the living room, where I saw Clara waiting. “Are you alright? Have you become calm?”. She rose from the sofa and went ahead to place her hand on my shoulder as she asked me. She might not look like it, but I could tell she was worried about me. It was written in her eyes, and I could see it. I smiled at her as I replied, “

I returned to the living room. “Maddie, can you be a dear and take Lily and Lewis to their room? And I would appreciate it if you remained there with them and did not come out”. I said, causing them to stare at each other's faces, before they returned their attention to me. It was clear that they had an idea about the scene which was about to take place. And so, without complaining, they left their seats. “Mom”. Lily muttered. She looked a bit scared, making me feel guilty. I went to her side and squatted in front of her as I caressed her cheeks with both my palms. “It's okay, sweetie. Your Mom ought to make all those bad people pay”. She nodded at me with a smile, before she followed her brother and Maddie, and left the living room, thus leaving behind me and Clara. She finally paid attention to me. “Have he found her?”. She asked me. “Yes”. “Finally. Some good news”. She declared, before she kept her cell phone aside in her pocket. “Well? Let's go to the baseme
