I’ve tried what I could to open that door but each time I get close, I'm sent flying back. Catching mud and bruises. I tried throwing stones and broken tree trunks yet all of it was thrown back.

Nothing works.

The tomb won’t open and the witch won't bother stepping out to see what's going outside or she is simply enjoying.

I circle it for what feels like the hundredth time, dirt streaked across my face, sweat clinging to my back.

I dig my fingers into the soil, breathing hard, mind racing. The face of Sofia flashes in the forefront of my mind and my patience shatters.

“Come out!” I roar, voice cutting through the fog. “I know you’re in there!”

Silence.

“I’m not leaving without you!” I grow.

The trees don’t rustle. Nothing moves. Not even the wind answers me.

Just that thick, stifling stillness that always surrounds places like this. Places that reek of forgotten power and old blood. It's like I'm slamming my head against a wall.
