Chapter 28. A New Life

I felt my whole body burning up and the sweat comes out of my pores all over. The pain is killing me, and yet I couldn't say anything. I am half awake and half asleep at the same time but I could feel the people around me. I can hear their voices talking in the room.
My mother who I am sure is the one holding my hand, is trembling in mixed emotions. The doctors are probably the people she's talking to, there are two of them. I hear their worried voices discussing about my condition.
"What happened to my daughter doc? Can she survive this?!"
"Yes of course Mrs. Snipes, do not worry so much and pray for a fast recovery. Some humans die after a wolf's bite but she displays a hundred percent survival. So I guess we are very lucky!"

I sniff the air and wonder who could it be since my father has not said anything about a guest staying in the Palace. * Ashley *I am not sure what woke me up but I just suddenly rise from the bed and look around me. At first, the surroundings are silent. But after a few minutes have passed I can smell the scent of something so intoxicating. Musky vanilla with wood sage, it goes deep into my nostrils and inside my lungs through the veins of my body. I feel the need to find out where it is.I have never felt something so potent and wild, it almost made my heart, ache with a certain longing that I can't quite comprehend. My feet touch the floor as my body moves to put a robe on the nightgown that my mother has prepared for me to wear this evening. The fabric hugs my body like a soft touch of a man.What am I thinking?! I slowly turn the knob on my door and get out. I can tell that it is almost dawn and the wolves in the Palace will wake up soon. The smell becomes stronger as I sniff the air to follow where it comes from.

*Ashley *The pain continues, I feel like losing my breath as the bones in my entire body break. But I can feel him watching and that fact is making me gather all my strength to keep going. * Ashley *The warm water falling from the shower feels soothing on my flawless cream color skin. After the hunt, we return to the Palace and he let me go back into my room. I feel much better after having that meal, although it is a puzzle when I look at myself in the mirror and see how flat my stomach is after having a big meal. I've finished my shower and realized how my skin become more healthy and vibrant than the last time I remember.Prince Vincent advised me to get some more rest and he said it was better if I get back to sleep after the shower. My heart races just thinking about him and the hunt we did together. When I remember how his body looked after we shifted back to human form, without anything on but just our skin.
