CHAPTER 04

I saw my mother and father being pushed to the edge of the cliff. They were the only ones who had cared for me since I was little, and now that they were gone, I didn't know how to go on.

They put me in a dark room and questioned me every day, trying to uncover the mastermind behind the events. But I did not know where to begin. The real culprit must be laughing at me right now, knowing that I fell into their trap. I had no news of what had happened to Jazzen.

"I am praying to the moon goddess for his safety," I whispered, closing my eyes and remembering the days when my parents were alive. They had taken care of me and never abandoned me. The door opened, and a woman with a wicked smile emerged.

"Look what we have here, the werewolf, or should I say the useless one who can't shift," Catherine sneered at me.

"You, Lily? Is that your ugly name? If you had just lived peacefully and not claimed what was mine from the beginning, your parents would still be alive," she said, throwing a bag at my head. Blood flowed down my face as the sharp edge of the bag cut me.

"What do you want? I have no loved ones left," I said, looking at her with anger.

"Just a simple thing. I want you to be treated like trash in this pack. I am the only woman Jazzen deserves, by his side," Catherine replied, her voice filled with malice.

"You are a lunatic, to begin with. You can't force someone to love you. Relationships should be based on willingness, not manipulation," I retorted, unable to believe her audacity. She was a deranged lycanthrope.

"Wait, I have a revelation for you. I am the one who shot Jazzen, and I planned it all along. Can you believe it? I am not only gorgeous but a genius as well," she laughed loudly, her face covered in layers of makeup.

"The moon goddess will punish you! Karma will strike back. Not only did you take my parents' lives, but you also falsely accused me of hurting Jazzen," I said, my voice filled with determination. I stood up but stumbled as I remembered that my legs were chained.

"Look at what you can do. You are the pitiful one here, not me. You are the stupid one for falling into my trap," Catherine grinned and laughed.

I clenched my teeth, feeling the hatred building up inside me. What could I do? I felt hopeless and powerless. One day, they would regret what they had done to me.

"I have bad news for you. You are no longer enrolled in school. The pack has decided that you will work here for the rest of your life! Hahahaha, serves you right, fool!" Catherine mocked me, her grin filled with satisfaction.

Now, I will be working for the rest of my life. What had I done to deserve this? Was it wrong to seek love? My parents were gone, and tears streamed down my face. The life of an omega seemed insignificant. We were just used for labor and not valued at all.

TWO MONTHS PASSED:

One week from now, it would be Jazzen's birthday celebration. He had recovered from the gunshot, but I had no opportunity to approach him. Werewolves guarded me while I performed my duties for the pack. Cleaning the hallways, washing dishes, and working tirelessly were now my daily routine.

I was excited to see him again. It pained me to know that he didn't want to see me. His 20th birthday was approaching, and he would find his Luna. I prayed to the moon goddess that I would be his mate.

"Start cleaning this area spotless, or else you can't eat," the person in charge of cleaning, Meda, ordered me. She was the head of the Omegas here.

"Yes, ma'am. I will do that immediately," I replied, grabbing the mop and cleaning diligently. Did I mention that I only received two meals a day? It was hard to believe, but there had been several changes in my life. One mystery was the crown tattoo that had mysteriously appeared on my left arm. The crown was golden in color, and I wondered how it had appeared. I hoped it held a good reason.

Once I finished cleaning, we were informed to clean the dining room. I walked slowly, hearing the hurtful words they spewed at me. Sometimes they threw tomatoes at my face or splashed water on me. Now, I cleaned the chairs and tables.

Suddenly, a loud noise echoed through the room as the door swung open. Catherine, clinging to Jazzen's arms, entered, her voice piercing the air.

“Jazzen, I am so excited for your birthday. I know that I am your mate. I will be the next Luna of this pack, not just some random, unimportant one," she smirked, her gaze fixed on me. She let go of Jazzen's arm and walked towards me, starting to harass me.

"Now you filthy rat, how dare you show your ugly face to me! Now that Jazzen is here, you take the opportunity to try and steal him," she yelled at the top of her lungs. I couldn't believe the audacity and cruelty in her words.

"Jazzen, I didn't do anything to harm you. I waited patiently at our meeting spot. All I heard was a gunshot, and when I approached, I found you unconscious, lying on the ground," I tried to explain, desperately hoping he would listen and understand.

But instead of listening, Jazzen kicked me in the ribs, causing me to gasp in pain. His rejection and harsh words cut deep into my heart.

"I don't know what nonsense you're spouting. I have no feelings for you. Your foolishness and delusions are just that. Now, don't show your face to me again, you murderer!" Jazzen's words pierced through me, leaving me devastated and broken.

I couldn't comprehend how everything had turned so sour. The person I had cared for and believed in had turned against me, believing the lies and accusations thrown my way. I felt the weight of his rejection and the pain of his kick, both physical and emotional.

With tears streaming down my face, I realized that my hopes and dreams had been shattered. The love I had held onto had crumbled before my eyes, leaving me with a profound sense of loss and despair.
