“The only way you’re going to let me finish what Damian needs is for me to agree to something.”

She sounds so incredibly scared right now.

“Please don’t barter your son’s care.”

“He won’t go without care and neither will you.”

His statement is as gentle as it is resolute.

“You would force it if I don’t agree to it?”

“I’m sorry but yes. You need care and if your arm is bad enough that Angela is trying to restrict what you do then, similar to how I have forced Damian I will force you.”

“You can’t do that. I’m an adult at nineteen.”

“No ma’am. You are considered an adult in the manner that you can join the warrior program and travel to other packs in search of your mate but you can be forced into the hospital and receive care until you turn twenty-one.”

“I don’t understand. Eighteen is adulthood.”

“Not for werewolves. There is a grey area created mainly for those who are orphaned or choose to go rogue.”

“You would force me to undergo surgery.”

“If that’s what it takes to fix

“My best guess is the individuals that you unknowingly targeted had enough interaction with Savannah that your wolf could smell her. The problem is, if he smells blood mixed with her scent it will cause him to attack in an effort to protect her.” I explain my thoughts slowly. “Even if she’s not physically present?” Patrick asks. “I do believe so. The mate’s bond does strange things to werewolves especially when one of them is a new shift.” “I’m sorry.” Damian sighs. He finally seems to get it. “Thank you. I appreciate your recognition and will be even more appreciative of a continuing open mind because the families that Declan is looking to help across the border into our land is just the beginning.” I explain placing my hand on his knee. “Who else would need our help?” He asks slowly. “Declan was hesitant to divulge the information about the orphans until I agreed to help him seek immunity from prosecution.” “Why would he need immunity?” Patrick asks. “It is important that ne

“I immediately requested that the high council tribunal go over your case citing that making an example out of a minor child was cruel and inappropriate punishment. Four days later, a week after your attack I was conferencing with them. At first they were steadfast on the adult level of punishment. The only difference would be the use of a delta not an alpha. The only thing they agreed with was it needing to be a private not public punishment. It took multiple conferences to convince two of them that it would equate to torture to heavily sedate you for the three hour car ride, drop you off in an unknown place not knowing if the proper medical monitoring would be available or followed through with just for you to receive your punishment without emotional support before being dumped back into solitary confinement until your time was up and the same had to happen to get you home. I do believe that Declan’s persistence that reeducation was needed not physical punishment that finished tha

“You didn’t want to do it, did you?” “No.” I sigh as I try to figure out the best way to explain my thoughts. “I pointed out several times the possibility that this could happen to the council. They denied that it was a point even worth bringing up as you had not been abused. I explained several times my actions in bringing you to the office and planning on taking a belt to you immediately after the accident but they didn’t believe that would cause an issue; I disagreed.” “You negotiated that it would discontinue if it caused a flashback?” He seems to be in disbelief that I would go to such lengths. “But, you’re strict and unforgiving.” “The mental health of my family, my pack is just as important as their physical health. I dole out no punishment that I believe would harm either of those aspects in an individual.” I pet his head slowly, giving him time to fully comprehend what I’m telling him. “What happens now?” He’s finally a little calmer. “As I’m certain you are aware, y

Friday, July 30th, 2016(Demetri’s POV)“No, don’t get rid of her!” Damian screams as he struggles to get his arms loose from between us. “Get rid of who Damian?” I ask. He’s been screaming random phrases for a while and answering is the only way to tell if he’s lucid again. “Jessa.” He answers me for the first time in an hour. “I placed her on a mandatory stay when I found out she was injured and wanted to leave us.” I try to calm his fears. “Her six months are up. You can force her to leave at any time. She is scared again. I’ve been asking her to hook up with me for months but she says it’s inappropriate for a nineteen year old to be with a sixteen year old. I beg her anyway. You can’t get rid of her if she’s mine.” “Damian.” I sigh gently as I wipe the tears rolling down his cheeks. I’m at a loss for words on how attached to Jessa he has become. “I’m sorry bud but she is correct. At nineteen she is considered an adult who’s capable of influencing you, a minor, into acts y

“What about Demerol? Do we have that in the wing?” “That’s the strongest thing that we have.” “I can tell you that she weighs the same as Damian so half the max based on his weight.” I make my request. “I’m sorry. I know it’s yet another shot but this should be strong enough to give you the relief you need so we can unwrap your arm.” I try to reassure her. “Please don’t do this. Demerol will knock me out. I’ll be defenseless.” She whimpers. “I know I’m asking a lot to ask you to trust me but I promise you, you’ve never had an alpha like me take care of you. It’s okay to fall asleep.” “Nooo.” She whines as she finds her footing. She struggles to push herself up and off my lap but it’s enough for me to know her intent. I stand suddenly lifting her off the floor, I must admit that I’m surprised to see Angela in front of us when I finish. “I’m sorry. I didn’t see you there. I guess that explains her whining and trying to get away.” I rub her head trying hard to calm her. I remain

“I don’t know how I survived the night but when I woke up I somehow managed to wrap my arm, grab a single bag, the lightest but most important to me, and ran out to see if Angela had left me. I slept the two hours it took to get here. I’ve used my knowledge as a nurse to pack the wound with gauze soaked in antibiotics and when I ran out I started using the creams and ointment but it still has gotten badly infected and hasn’t healed at all in the two weeks that it happened.” She goes quiet as Angela returns. “Patrick, can you help Jessa raise her injured arm so it rests on Demetri’s shoulder?” She requests. Jessa whines and tries to fight as Patrick puts his hands under her arm, I’m surprised to feel how much her fight has weakened. “No.” She whines quietly as she sits up in my lap. I follow her gaze to find that she’s looking straight at the syringe with a long but thin needle attached. “That’s a long needle. I can’t. I can’t do a nerve block.” She cries as she fights. I bring h
