Chapter 16

Scarlett

I turned on the soft mattress beneath me, biting my lip as pain shot up my spine. The cotton bedsheets were soft on my back but the discomfort was proving quite hard to ignore. I pulled myself up into a sitting position with the support of my elbows. I had to swallow down a wince as the claw marks on my chest burned.

One look at the room, I knew I was all alone. My sensitive sense of smell picked up the woodsy scent of alpha Jaxon. It washed down my windpipe, awakening my wolf. She had been asleep, for some reason she felt so weak inside of me. The back of my head throbbed, it seemed to put a lot of tension on my neck.

Before I could step out of the bed, the door was pushed open. Alpha Jaxon's eyes settled on me with my legs hanging over the side of bed. One look at him and every single memory came rushing back.
