"Remind me where we were before I got distracted." Cane flashed his dirty yellow teeth yet again. I closed my eyes briefly for a wave of nausea to pass. Pulling the barrier down to warn Jaxon about the spy had drained me. I hadn't eaten for hours coupled with the couple of slaps and punches I had endured from Cane. I needed to preserve energy for my escape, after I uncovered more about Cane, Silas and the powerful warlock.

"Uh huh." His face hardened when I made no move to talk. "Where is it?" He bellowed, kicking my shin when I just looked at him. The pain radiated from the point of contact, numbing my leg up to my knee. Deciding to give him what he wanted I cried out, begging him to stop.

"I need to know where it is, fucking tell me!" He stepped on my bare foot, the sound of my bones cracking and my sharp piercing cry filling up the enclosed space. I couldn't allow my wolf to awaken in fear of healing, I had no intentions of him knowing that the silver hadn't worked.
