Joan did not remember how many times she gasped. She was confused and was angered at the same time. It probably took another half an hour for her to loosen up. 

She received a peck on her forehead and heard Cole say, "Let's go back home as soon as possible."

Cole got busy arranging with the hotel their flights to Los Angeles, and while he was on the phone, Joan went to the bedroom and merely curled into a ball. While comforting herself, she was in deep thought. 

"Joan, you are thinking too far in advance. Anna is most likely lying," she muttered to herself.

She lingered in the same pitiful position for seconds longer and noticing how Cole had not come for her yet; she decided to give Lina, her best friend, a call. She knew Lina would have already heard about the news.
