Maya’s POV

It felt like I had just closed my eyes when my alarm started blaring.

I groaned and reached across the nightstand, fumbling for my phone until I finally managed to silence it.

"Jesus..."

I squinted at the screen.

A little after seven hours of sleep.

Seven hours.

How in the world did it feel like I had only been asleep for twenty minutes?

I rolled onto my back and stared at the ceiling for a moment.

Then it hit me.

I had gone to bed ridiculously early.

No wonder I felt confused.

  • The Price of Peace: Book 3 In The No More Regrets Series   Realizations and Pregnancy

Maya's POV The weird thing about fainting is that you never realize you're unconscious until you're waking back up.One minute, I was floating.Literally floating. It felt like I was drifting through the sky, weightless, peaceful. Looking down at all the people I loved. Gabby was down there smiling and waving. My family was there too. My friends. Everybody looked happy.Even Shane. He was waving at me with that stupid handsome smile of his, and I smiled back.Everything felt perfect.Peaceful.Like bliss. Then I turned my head, and there was a brick wall. A giant brick wall and I flew straight into it.Hard.Then I was falling.I heard someone screaming."Maya.""Maya.""Maya, wake up."I groaned. My eyelids felt heavy as hell.I cracked one eye open and immediately saw Shane's face hovering over me.Relief flooded his expression."Well, it's about time you woke up, babe."I blinked."What happened?"I looked around."Where am I?"His eyes widened."We're at urgent care."I frowned.

  • The Price of Peace: Book 3 In The No More Regrets Series   Immediate Care

Shane's POV As we pulled into the urgent care parking lot, I took a deep breath. Please let my girl be okay. That was the only thing running through my mind.Hopefully, she didn’t have COVID or anything serious. The lightheadedness, the exhaustion, the fact that she had been feeling drained all day… it could have been anything. But with Gabby around, I just wanted to make sure Maya was okay and that everyone was safe.I parked the car and immediately got out. When I walked around to her side, I opened the door and held out my hand. She looked at me and laughed."Shane, I can walk."I nodded."I know you can."I reached for her hand anyway."But I still want to hold your hand. Come on."She rolled her eyes, but she smiled as she took my hand. And honestly?I didn't care.I wanted to be there for her.We walked inside together, and thankfully, it wasn't crowded. The waiting room only had one other couple sitting there.Maya walked up to the front desk."Um, I'm not feeling well this mo

I muttered to myself.Slowly, I pushed myself upright and headed into the bathroom. After taking care of business, I stood at the sink and caught my reflection in the mirror.I looked tired. Not exhausted.Just... off.As I turned to grab my toothbrush, another wave of dizziness rolled through me.My hand shot out and grabbed the counter."What the hell?"I squeezed my eyes shut and waited for it to pass.A few seconds later, it eased

  • The Price of Peace: Book 3 In The No More Regrets Series   Now, What's Wrong

Maya’s POV Once the kids finished throwing away the rest of their food, I herded everybody upstairs. The nightly routine officially began.Showers.Brushing teeth.Hair getting greased and tucked into bonnets.Arguments about who got to pick the movie. The usual.By the time we made it into Gabby's room, I was already exhausted.Gabby and my niece were going to share the bed, while my nephew would sleep on the rollaway bed stored underneath it.As I bent down and pulled the rollaway out, another wave of dizziness hit me.Hard.I stopped moving and grabbed the bedframe."What the fuck..."I closed my eyes for a second. The room wasn't spinning exactly, but it felt off.Like my equilibrium had suddenly decided to take a vacation on vertigo Island.I took a deep breath and slowly let it out. Then another. After a few seconds, the feeling eased enough for me to keep moving.I pulled the covers back and got the little bed set up.My nephew immediately climbed into it and started bouncing.

  • The Price of Peace: Book 3 In The No More Regrets Series   This Better Be It

Maya’s POV As I looked over at my daughter who can be a whole handful on that Friday night, I couldn't help but sigh. My niece and nephew were spending the night with us because my brother had to handle some business. Apparently, his deranged ass wife had somehow convinced the police to lock him out of his own house. I still couldn't wrap my head around how stuff like that happened. The man paid every bill. He lived there. He received mail there. Hell, the house was in his name. Yet somehow, the police had escorted him off his own property. Now he was staying with our mom. Thankfully, he had already spoken with one of the attorneys over at Morgan & Michaels. They assured him everything would be sorted out quickly, and according to them, he'd be back in his house by Monday. It was still a damn shame. He'd told me he would come by first thing in the morning to pick up the kids. Gabby was going with him, too, which meant I'd have the entire day to myself. For once. I planned on

Third Person POV Shane's perspective Shane had barely stepped through the front door before Lily and Sophie were on him."Dad! Dad! Grandpa will be here in less than an hour, so you have to get ready!"He looked between his daughters and laughed."I'm already ready."Lily scoffed dramatically."Grandpa hasn't been to our house in years. You have to get ready, Dad. You look like you just came from work. Go put on some jeans and a T-shirt or something."Shane shook his head and pulled both girls into a hug."Where's SJ?""Upstairs talking to his new girlfriend," Sophie answered.Shane sighed."This one isn't like Miley, is she?""Nah," Lily said immediately. "She's cool. She likes video games, Pokémon cards, and other weird stuff. Miley was kinda... like a teenager."Shane laughed."Well, SJ is a teenager.""Dad, you know what we mean," Sophie said. "Like teenager-teenager. Dating, kissing, all that stuff. Miley was all about that and SJ, not so much."Relief washed over him."Okay.
