I hope you loved this chapter. I love you guys so much! <3
|Princess Zoey's Point Of View| Duchess Winter is cunning. She walks to the underground dungeon before me and asks me to hide behind a wall. After a while, she comes out but not alone, with ALL the guards following her from behind! She winks at me before walking in the other direction, leaving me as shocked as ever. How the hell did she take all the guards out of the dungeon? Even me, being the princess, cannot do that! I should probably master her cunning skills. I quickly whip my head and look in all directions to make sure no one's around, to make sure I am not being watched. As I am sure, I slip through the door and quickly grab a flame stick from the wall. I carefully walk down the swirly stairway, lighting my path with the stick. Once I am on the ground, I go in the direction that I remember where Micah's cell is. I open the door to the separate corridor and enter, hanging the flame stick on a hook on the wall. Then I walk to the second cell where Micah is and peek in. He is
|Princess Zoey's Point Of View| The next day, I had a serious conversation with Duchess Winter about my plans. Talking about serious things with her is rather hard, but today I find her LISTENING to me. "So what? Are you going to have Micah as your mate? Like, a lover?" she questions me. "I... I think so." I mumble. "Though I am a bit hesitant. He has already invaded my mind. So I think it's fine." I shrug. "Damn. So how are you planning to do it? Like, any plans on how to meet him?" "I haven't thought that far!" I squeak out. "I JUST decided to... to- let my mind wander, okay? I haven't planned anything yet. But I know one thing. To fulfil my goal and become the ruler one day, I need him. No other alpha would agree to be by my side, helping me to be the Queen, without planning treason, right?" "Right. I agree. But I suggest you get to know him more before you launch your plan, alright?" "Okay... Help me with that, Duchess Winter." I bow my head as a joke. "Okay, thy student. I
|Princess Zoey's Point Of View| "Where's Micah?" I ask as soon as we step out to the garden. "He's by the bench already. But before you go, I wanted to ask you. Why did you specifically ask maid Pamela to keep an eye on your room before we come?" she asks. "Oh. Actually, since I didn't have anything to do yesterday, I made a small plan. All the paperwork is in my room, and I don't want anyone to see them." I admit. "Okay... But why did you make a sudden plan like that?" "I-I am planning to talk with my parents tomorrow. Sooner the better, right?" I ask. "Uh-huh. I think so. Are you also planning to talk with them about Micah?" "Not yet." "Then, when?" "I don't know. When I am sure about him, I guess." I shrug in distress. The chances of my parents agreeing with my idea of letting me prove myself capable of the throne are low. And with that, their acceptance of Micah is low as well. So I might have to delay talking about Micah for another time, but it seems unfair for both him
|Princess Zoey's Point Of View| I walk toward the dining room the next day. To my surprise, I find Duchess Winter waiting for me outside the door. "Hey. What are you doing here?" I ask. "Just wanted to wish you luck before you go in. Also~~~ I heard you kissed your peasant last night," she teasingly smiles. "Shh... Don't say it aloud!" I hush her down and, "He kissed me! I didn’t. This Zoey doesn't give in to alphas that easily." I whisper in a proud voice. "Oho~ I see. Now go inside before they finish having breakfast. Show them all your charms!" I nod and walk inside after taking a deep breath. As I walk in, I find my parents engaged in a pretty serious conversation, talking in hushed voices. And they stop talking as soon as they see me. "What are you guys talking about?" I nervously ask. "Just random things, hun. Why don't you take a seat?" my mother asks, motioning at my usual seat. Father is silent as always. So I sit, and a maid serves me food. While she's at it, I plan e
|Princess Zoey's Point Of View| I walk out of the room, fuming in anger. I've never felt this mad toward my parents, especially my father. I know I am acting stubborn, but I believe I have ownership of the throne after him. "I will prove myself, prove him wrong and let him know how responsible I can be. No. I will plan treason against him. I will steal the throne." I say as I walk to my room. "Calm down, your highness. You aren't saying these words with your heart, but out of anger." maid Pamela tries to calm me down. But I am far from that. "How can I stay calm, huh? I know I acted stubborn, and he's worried about me as a father, but it's so unfair that he's unwilling to give me a chance! But willing to give a stranger a chance! This is something he can easily give me! A-and thinking about that shithead Prince Patrick, it boils me inside! I had to go through all that because of my parents as well. So this is my turn to do what I want." I express. I open the door to my room and wa
|Princess Zoey's Point Of View| I unlock Micah’s cell and ask him to come out. He hesitates but eventually does. Pamela looks at me as if I've grown a horn, but she doesn't speak up. I hold Micah's shoulders and make him look at me. "Listen. Once you step out of this cell and show yourself to everyone in the palace, you are off to have your own fight. I can't do that for you, but you can do it for yourself. I will be there, but I want you to claim pride and dignity for yourself, so there won't be a single person talking behind your back. So, are you up for it?" I ask. "I- I think so," he says. "Okay, then let's go." When we walk out of the door, the guards look bewildered, but they make no comment. So we walk upstairs without an issue. Once we are out of the underground dungeon door, whispers spread out like wildfire. "Pamela, get him a new room. I am going to finish off what I've started. I'll be busy." I say as we part in different directions. Micah looks at me and walks in the
|Princess Zoey's Point Of View| Micah and I meet (one day later) at the palace library. Arriving there, I ask Pamela not to let anyone enter till we find all the information we want. As we walk inside, the rusty smell of books surrounds us in a calming manner. Micah breathes in, and his eyes literally shine, seeing and smelling all the books. Damn. Man can fall in love with books sooner than with me. "This- this place is so perfect," he exclaims. "Uh-huh. All the world's books lie here. I bet this is going to be your favourite place?" I ask. "Yeah, but am I allowed to wander around and come here?" he asks with hopeful eyes. "When I get you a guard." "Oh... but I don't need one and don't want to trouble you. I can look after myself." "Silly." I roll my eyes. "You know nothing about the palace. This is a place where tons of secrets, dirty works and mysterious deaths lie. It's unsafe for every single person who lives here." I explain. "I thought it was the opposite," he admits.
|Micah’s Point Of View| There is a knock on the door, and I walk to see who it is. I open it to find maid Pamela there, looking like she had worked all day. "Princess Zoey is expecting you," she says. "I thought Princess was busy," I say. "She is. She was. For the last three days. She had several meetings with some officers, and they were a mess." "Messy... as in?" She sighs, "It's weird and unfair, alright? The officers didn't take her seriously. She's a royal, yeah, a princess, yeah, but you get it... It's all about class and rank in this world." "God. How bad was it?" I ask, quickly taking out the door's key and walking out with her. I lock the door from outside. "So bad... Whatever Princess said, they had something against it. Her highness was trying to discuss about the shortage of clean water in two districts, but the officers were saying this and that on how it's only a small issue." "What bullshit," I mumble. "Exactly. It was quite a war zone. There wasn't anyone to t
