Fated to meet.

On that evening, Kane sat down to dinner, accompanied by his assistant who sat by his side. He ate slowly, seemingly unenthusiastic about the meal, pausing to sip water from his glass now and then.

"Sir... You won't believe what I'm about to tell you," he began.

"What is it?"

"Do you remember that waitress from the café over two years ago, the one you took an immediate interest in?"

After a moment of reflection, Kane finally recalled. It was not easy to forget the young woman he had deceived and mistreated. Following that incident, he lost all desire to pursue women for his gratification. The compassion and guilt he felt that night seemed to have turned over a new leaf within him. He couldn't bear the idea of deceiving and using another woman, only to abandon her.

"Yes... What's the matter with her?"

"Well... she's now working for your company as one of the cleaners," he revealed, causing Kane to halt his eating, attempting to absorb Darian's words.

"What?"

"It's true, sir. She's employed in your company now. I spotted her today in the cafeteria. I could hardly believe it myself."

Kane pondered for a moment before resuming his meal.

"And why would that be a concern?"

"Well... what if she recognizes you? You could face trouble if she decides to report you to the authorities."

Kane found it amusing.

"Do you think some woman would dare to involve the police with me?"

"It's just a thought, sir."

"Well, that was in the past. Perhaps you're mistaken or imagining things. Go get some rest, okay?" he said, patting Darian on the back before standing up and departing.

Despite Darian's certainty about recognizing the girl from two years ago, he dismissed his thoughts. He must have been mistaken or hallucinating.

The following day, Caitlin rose to her usual morning routine, preparing Sultan for preschool before heading to work. Upon arriving at work, she was assigned a different task.

"Miss Caitlin, due to your dedication and hard work, I have decided to assign you the task of cleaning the CEO's office today. It's the largest office in the building, so you must perform your duties meticulously. I expect no negative feedback regarding your work, understood?" her supervisor instructed.

"Yes, ma'am," Caitlin responded before departing. She was entrusted with the keys to the CEO's office and promptly began cleaning. Intending to complete the task before the CEO's arrival, she worked diligently. Engrossed in her work, she even hummed her favorite tunes, oblivious to the photograph of the CEO in one corner.

Before long, Kane arrived and made his way to his office. Noticing the open door and assuming the cleaning had been completed, he was intrigued by the sweet and melodious singing emanating from within. Curious, he entered to discover a young woman dusting the sofas.

Having just completed her cleaning duties, Caitlin decided to give the sofas one final dusting. Mesmerized by her singing, Kane stood there listening attentively, almost as if he were under a spell. With a smile on his face, he approached her slowly, eager to catch a glimpse of the mysterious woman with such an angelic voice. Startled, Caitlin noticed a shadow looming over her and turned around. They found themselves face to face, and the smile vanished from Kane's face as he immediately recognized her.

Caitlin was horrified, unable to believe the sight before her. Her face drained of color in sheer terror.

Kane could identify that face anywhere. No matter how hard he had tried, he couldn't erase from his mind the image of the girl he had mistreated two years ago. Her tears, her pleas, her gasps of pain with each cruel act haunted him for so long, and now that same girl stood before him.

His eyes widened in sheer shock. Caitlin, too, was stunned. The face of the man who had abused her was unforgettable, his wicked smiles haunting her for so long.

Tears welled up in her eyes as painful memories flooded back. Swiftly brushing past him, she fled the office in a hurry, leaving behind the mop bucket and broom. Kane stood there, still reeling from the unexpected encounter.

Just then, Darian entered the office. Having witnessed the girl running out in tears earlier, he exclaimed, "Sir... Did you see that girl?! That's the one I was talking about!"

Kane fell silent for a moment, then let out a heavy sigh. "I did. You... you were right."

Darian urged, "You should dismiss her immediately before she causes any trouble!"

"No. Let her be," Kane stated before sitting down on the sofa, lost in his thoughts.

Caitlin dashed into one of the bathrooms on the same floor, locking the door behind her, breathing heavily, and shedding uncontrollable tears. The revelation hit her like a ton of bricks - the CEO was none other than the cruel man who had shattered her life! How could this have happened? She needed to resign immediately. Working for such a heartless and ruthless man was out of the question. She couldn't bear to face him again.

Suddenly, there was a loud knocking on the door. The knocking persisted for a few minutes, growing louder, likely due to impatience. Wiping her tears away quickly, Caitlin opened the door to find another female staff member who seemed urgent. She had been knocking for quite some time. Casting an angry glance at Caitlin, the woman rushed into one of the stalls to attend to her needs.

Caitlin was not herself for the remainder of the day, always avoiding the CEO whenever he was around. Her performance suffered, and she faced a harsh scolding from Matilda. The thought of quitting crossed her mind, but she realized she couldn't afford to lose this job, as she needed it to support herself and her son. Grace had worked hard to secure this opportunity for her, and she felt she couldn't be ungrateful by resigning. Restless and eager for the day to end, she anxiously awaited closing time.

Finally, the workday came to a close. While the cleaners stayed a bit longer to tidy up once more, Caitlin had to obtain permission to leave early as Sultan was still at daycare. He typically stayed there with a teacher until late in the evening when Caitlin arrived to pick him up. Upon seeing his mother, Sultan joyfully dashed towards her, embracing her with excitement.

"In a sweet voice, he called out, 'Mommy! I missed you!' and Caitlin lifted him into her arms.

"Sultan, my little one. I'm sorry for keeping you waiting."

"Mummy, I want... spaghetti," he pleaded with adorable, imploring eyes, and Caitlin smiled through tears.

"Don't worry, darling. I'll make that for you."

After saying goodbye to the teachers, they took a cab ride home. The journey was long, and Sultan soon fell asleep in her arms. Caitlin covered him with her coat, holding him close as the cab traveled along the highway. Lost in her thoughts, she stared out the window.

The father of her son was her boss. What should she do? Overwhelmed with emotion, tears filled her eyes and streamed down her cheeks uncontrollably.
