“Why didn’t you pick somebody else?!” I shouted at Thomas. “Why me? Screw your damn feelings, I want the truth!” I flipped over a chair. It was the next day and we hadn’t heard anything from them. The only order I had was to stay here in my room until someone came and got me. She was running through the woods laughing at the game she was playing, looking back every so often to see how far behind her sister was, and then she saw The Man. She came to a halt, almost tripping over a tree branch in the process as her hair whipped forward and she stared at him. He was dressed in nothing more than a simple gray t-shirt with blue pants and what appeared to just be regular boots. He seemed like a harmless man, but the way he stared at her made her want to run and hide from him. He was standing and staying still, breathing heavily, reeking of something that made her gag. “Little girl,” he had slowly said to her. I watched the movie intently on my bed as I unconsciously rubbed the spot where I was bitten when I was six years old. I gazed down at my left shoulder, even though the bite marks had faded long ago it had left something else behind in return. Just like Blade from the movies, I am classified as a Daywalker. Meaning, I can walk freely around in the sun without worrying about it burning me into ashes, but I still craved human blood like any other Vampire. “Hey, Paul,” I cried. Paul looked over his shoulder at me, quickly turned around and started walking faster. "What an ass," I muttered as I picked up my own place to catch after him. “Did you not hear me when I called your name,” I asked as I finally caught up to him. I watched my sister go down the stairs, holding her head up high. She thought she knew everything there was to know about Thomas. But that wasn’t true, I knew him a long time before she did.
