Chapter 3 Reunion and Anticipation

After searching around, Patricia finally found her best friend, Jade Williams, in the parking lot.

Jade excitedly hugged Patricia and jumped up and down.

"My Professor. Watson, you finally decided to come back! I've been waiting for you for a whole year. I missed you so much."

Looking at her best friend, Patricia couldn't help but tear up.

"I missed you too, I missed you so much it drove me crazy."

If it weren't for Jade, she wouldn't have survived.

Five years ago, Martin disregarded the fact that she was pregnant and tied her to the operating table. She had thought the baby wouldn't survive. But unexpectedly, the child, was strong and miraculously survived.

When it was time to give birth, she had a difficult experience and gave birth to triplets.

Charles and Randy were her sons, and Fannie was her daughter.

Randy, sadly, hads evere congenital heart disease. He needed so much care, expensive care.  Patricia was penniless and had no way to pay the required hospital bills. Putting Randy before herself, she send him to Martin. Hoping that Martin would have compassion on his son.

In an attempt to avoid Martin and Debbie, she took the other two children abroad. It was during the years abroad, if it hadn't been for Jade being with her, helping her get through the most difficult first three years, she wouldn't have made it to this point.

Jade let go of Patricia and asked with anticipation, "You're not leaving again, are you?"

A flicker of hesitation passed through Patricia's eyes. "I'm not sure. I came back to treat Randy's heart disease. Everything depends on Randy's recovery."

Curiously, Jade asked, "Does Martin know that the expensive professor of cardiology he hired is you?"

As Patricia thought of their past experiences, her face gradually turned cold, even showing a hint of anticipation. "He doesn't know! But soon, he will."

Jade didn't ask any further and squatted down, cupping the little faces of Charles and Fannie, and smothered them with kisses.

"Charles, Fannie, I finally get to see you. Did you miss me?"

Fannie, hugged Jade's neck and planted kisses all over her face, while flattering her. "I missed you so much. It's been only a few days, but you've become even more beautiful."

Jade, whose vanity was greatly satisfied, laughed at Fannie. "You little brat, always flattering me. It's going to get sweeter. I'll buy candy for you later."

Fannie smiled, her eyes forming a beautiful crescent shape. "Thank you, Jade!"

Jade looked at Charles and asked, "And what about you?"

Charles sweetly smiled, "Of course, I also missed you Jade! You only buy candy for Fannie, but I want some too."

Jade's heart was melted by them both. She couldn't help but pinch his chubby little face, "Don't worry, I won't leave you out."

Fannie rubbed her round little belly pitifully, "Jade, I'm hungry."

Jade held the hands of the two little ones and said, "Let's go, I'll take you to eat something delicious."

After the luggage was put in the trunk, they drove away, anticipating the delicious food they would have.

After having lunch, Jade brought Patricia and the two children to Riverside Apartments. Pointing at the spotless house, Jade proudly raised her chin, as she spoke.

"Since I knew you were coming back, I had the cleaner clean every nook and cranny inside and out yesterday. It looks just like when you left five years ago. Not even a pair of socks went missing."

Looking at the familiar house. Knowing that this was the only thing her mother had left for her, Patricia couldn't help but tear up, and at the same time, her hatred towards Martin deepened.

After a brief moment of sadness, Patricia squatted down, touched Charles and Fannie's little heads, and anxiously said, "Charles, Fannie, Mommy has to go to the hospital to register. Stay home and behave yourselves, don't run around. Jade will stay and keep you company."

After finishing, she smiled while looking at Charles, and said, "Especially you, the naughtiest one! Listen to Jade, okay?"

"Alright, alright, I got it! Hurry up and go to the hospital for registration! Don't be late on your first day and leave a bad impression on the boss." Charles waved his hand, behaving like an adult.

Patricia couldn't help but laugh and lightly flicked his nose. "You little rascal, I was hired by them at a high price. I'm not afraid of being late."

Charles pouted, not holding back his laughter, "Mommy, you're too confident!"

"You little rascal!" Patricia gave him a stern pat on the head and looked at Jade, "Take good care of them for me. I'll be back after work."

Jade patted her chest and assured, "You can trust me with them. I'll look after them."

Only then did Patricia feel at ease leaving the children. She didn’t have anything to worry about, as soon as she left, Charles and Fannie played together without a care of anything else.

Charles cunningly rolled his eyes and gave Fannie a glance, understanding immediately, she exchanged a glance with him. Without saying a word, they finalized their plan. Charles pretended to yawn.

"Jade, I'm so tired. I'm going back to my room to sleep. You can play with Fannie."

Jade didn't suspect anything and took him to the bedroom. After making sure he got into bed, she tucked him in and quietly left, closing the bedroom door.
