ARYA

Why would my father join the Obsidian Order? Was it because of my dead mother? Or was there something I was missing?

"Your father was promised power. It runs deeper than that—" Daxton's voice trailed off as he curled in on himself, his face losing colour.

I'd almost forgotten how critical his condition was. He'd come so close to dying, and because he was suddenly able to walk around without doubling over from exhaustion, I'd truly forgotten that I'd nearly killed him.

"What's wrong?" I asked, bringing a hand to his forehead. He was burning up.

"Shit," I cursed. How didn't I realize that he was struggling?

"Can you stand?" I asked, and he grunted. I helped him up to a sitting position, rising to my feet.

"This is humiliating," he mumbled as he stood up, swaying slightly.

"I'm not sorry, you know?" I muttered in a low voice, steadying him. He laughed, clutching at his chest.

"I deserved it," he croaked as we headed out of the garden together.

I helped him throug

  • The Tribrid Alpha’s Nemesis    60: THE SOURCE OF YOUR MISFORTUNE

ARYA Something changed after our encounter with Theron. Daxton’s night terrors worsened and paranoia set in. He constantly gave off the aura of a haunted man, even now as I watched him type on his PC in his study. We hadn’t spoken much since that night. But he was constantly asking me to be around him as though he was afraid that I would vanish into thin air if I wasn’t. He was probably not thinking about the fact that the power of the moonstone had become volatile. And perhaps if I continued to hang around him, he would eventually get hurt. “Can’t get over how gorgeous I am?” He asked with a straight face, and I scoffed. At least his dry humour was still alive. “You wish.” His gaze flickered over to mine for a second before returning to the screen of his laptop. “Can you ask Sallie to get me…” His voice trailed off, and he shook his head. “Forget it.” There it was again. His paranoia. I let my gaze roam over his handsome face, and I couldn’t help but notice the tiredness

  • The Tribrid Alpha’s Nemesis    59: STAY WITH ME

DAXTON It was him. The cocky bastard I'd destroyed for good. At least, that's what I'd believed before now. Seeing him again filled my mind with memories so bitter I could literally taste the bile in my mouth. "You don't look so happy to see me." Theron drawled. "Why? Did you really believe you'd succeeded in burning me to ashes?" I inhaled through my nose, willing myself to stay calm. He obviously felt so much joy when it boiled down to mocking me. "What did you do to Arya?" I demanded and he shrugged. "Nothing much. I just… corrupted the power of the moonstone," he droned, and knots formed in my guts. "What?" I growled. He grinned. "She's literally become a time bomb. And when she detonates, she'll be taking you down. Isn't that what she was made for?" I snarled at him, rage boiling in my veins. But just before I could attack him, Arya grabbed my hand to stop me. I turned to look at her, my frown fading when I saw how fragile she looked. Strands of her hair stuck to her swea

  • The Tribrid Alpha’s Nemesis    58: EVEN THROUGH THIS MADNESS

ARYA It was too dark. Whatever was tied around my head was obstructing my vision, and it also caused a strain in my breathing. I'd regained consciousness a while ago, and I'd been trying to free myself from the too-tight restraints around my wrists and ankles. Thankfully, whoever had abducted me did not use silver restraints. They'd used ropes instead, sparing me the trouble of being poisoned by silver. I still couldn't believe that I'd been kidnapped right in Daxton's home. The culprit had to be an insider. There was no other plausible reason for this. I stiffened when I heard a door creak open, my senses alert. "Who's there?" I called out in a muffled voice, and the sound of steady footsteps reached my ears. Suddenly, the object on my face was ripped off. A gasp slipped out of my lips when I saw him. Bright green eyes and black hair... No, wait... In my mother's journal, was this the person she'd warned me about? The jerk had used a spell on me before. But why would he do tha

  • The Tribrid Alpha’s Nemesis    57: HIS WEAKNESS

ARYA His body caged mine, all heat and muscle and reckless power, and I wanted more. I needed more. I barely had time to breathe before he spun me around and pressed me against the cold wall. My palms braced against it, paint smearing under my fingers. He pulled me back by the hips and slammed into me, hard, a cry ripping from my throat. Gods, he felt too good. Too right. And I was so fucking tired of pretending that I didn't crave him. "Fuck—" he growled behind me, the sound of his deep voice making my toes curl. "You want it rough? You need to be ruined, don't you?" "Yes," I gasped, my voice shaking. "By you." There was no hesitation after that. No mercy. Only the brutal rhythm of his hips slamming into mine, each thrust knocking the breath from my lungs. I didn't want gentle. I wanted to feel everything. The burn. The stretch. Him. All of him. "You're mine," he growled, thrusting deep into my core. "Then take me," I breathed. "Fucking claim me, Daxton." And when

Warning: +18 DAXTON The moment Mason burst through the studio doors, his face pale, I knew something was wrong. I dropped the paintbrush in the bucket by my side, turning the unfinished painting away from him. It was my most sacred art. A painting of the woman who'd occupied my heart. "What's wrong?" I asked my brother, and shortly after, Tyrone literally dragged Arya into my studio. She looked dazed, trapped in a world I couldn't see. "Earlier this morning, a man named Cassian came around, and Arya claimed that she was his girlfriend. But the thing is...she's never met him before," Mason said, and I narrowed my eyes, a sinking feeling settling in my guts. "This person dared to walk into my property?" I asked, and Tyrone winced. "Just before we could confront him, he whispered something into her ear and vanished into thin air." I frowned, turning to look at Arya who was crouched on the floor, dazed. "He vanished?" I murmured, and Mason nodded. "Wait...your left eye i
