“Perrin, over here!”

He was at least a half a mile away, but he heard me. I had just caught the flowery scent of roses. Kira. She had to be nearby.

Perrin was there before I had a chance to pick up on the direction it was coming from.

He pointed without words. 

We ran down a grassy knoll into a patch filled with wildflowers. For a beautiful day, the park was remarkably empty.

“She has to be nearby. Don’t worry.” But I knew my words didn’t have any effect.

“Go that way. We can’t take any chances.”

We separated again.
