Patrick could not tear his eyes away from Loveth, who struggled to rise despite her injured foot. "Ah!" She let out a pained groan, causing him to avert his gaze from her and his mother. It was clear that he had no idea who had hired her to work in their mansion.

"I am not sure if she is up for the challenge, but if she wants to stick around, that is okay. Isabel would definitely not be pleased if she discovered that I had sent Loveth home in such a condition," his mother responded, and Patrick locked eyes with Doctor Timothy Suleiman.

"Doctor, you heard my mother's plea. I have no control over the women's affairs and I am not responsible for her employment here. I must depart promptly." Patrick reluctantly turned to leave their living room, only to be abruptly summoned back by his mother. "No, son, please wait!"

Patrick sighed, anticipating his mother's predictable question. He responded, already aware of what she wanted to know: the date for his impending marriage.
