"You... You weren't.... You weren't there."

Eleanor's trembling voice pierced my ears as she hung on my neck sobbing uncontrollably, leaving me dumbfounded for a moment.

Fuck. I screwed up.

As I regained my senses I held her in my arms as I patted her back gently, whispering sweet nothings in her ears hoping that she would calm down. But, sadly I was successful only in making her cry more.
