Drifta had refused to resurface for so long, kept away, and refused to help me, but this was her breaking point. Not that I didn’t understand her rage, sorrow, and hatred, but now her power surged through me, demanding space and forcing me back. The sensation felt incredibly good; I felt stronger and no longer alone, but at the same time, the twin’s smile made my skin crawl.

“What? Did you expect us to let her live? She died the moment you crawled around the corner!”

They both laughed. Standing side by side butt naked but without a trace of shame. They were strutting their pathetic meat snakes and muscles while relishing in the fact that they let Lydia die. Not only that, my father, before they had their warriors, locked the children’s safehouse and lit it up, allowing them to burn alive. Drifta boiled inside of me, every single drop of blood rushing through my body heated and itching beneath my skin.
