Chapter 24: A Bittersweet Day

The pleasant fragrance of food that permeated the air caused me to wake up as my stomach began to growl. Due to sleepiness, my eyes were still hazy. I stood up, feeling my body tense.

I turned on the lights. The unexpected brightness struck me square in the eyes. It took me a while to adjust to the light, so I had to strain my eyes to read the time. I blew my entire evening away at 10:03.

I hurriedly changed out of my now-wrinkled school clothes and put them in the laundry basket.

I walked out to the dining area, where I found Ann serving herself some pasta carbonara.

"Welcome, sleepyhead," Ann remarked.

I sat at the table as a yawn escaped my mouth.

"Well, I arrived late from Liam's, so... last-minute pasta carbonara!" Ann grinned and pointed at the dish.

“Hm, it smells so good,” I moaned and served myself some.

“So, what are your weekend plans?” I asked.

Ann’s face flushed. “Um… Liam and I are going on our first date,” the blush on her face reached all the way down to her neck.
