Aria’s POV

The food kept coming.

First, the oysters…plump and briny, served on ice with mignonette sauce that tasted like the ocean.

Then seared scallops that melted on my tongue, followed by lobster tail so buttery I had to close my eyes to fully appreciate it.

Kyle watched me with amusement. “When’s the last time you actually enjoyed a meal?”

I thought about it. Dinners with Jason had been performances.

Sitting across from him at expensive restaurants, eating food I barely tasted while he c

Third Person POV Jason stood up slowly, the heavy oak chair scraping loudly against the floor.“If you go after Aria, you go through me,” he said, voice low and steady. “And I promise you… I will burn everything down before I let that happen.”He turned and looked at each of them, one by one, eyes hard. He waited for a response. The elders exchanged looks. Reginald Thorne’s flint eyes narrowed. Victor Kane’s mouth twisted in displeasure. The others shifted uncomfortably in their seats.Reginald spoke first, voice cold and sharp.“How dare you talk back to us? We are the elders of this family. We built this circle. We protected your father’s legacy while you were busy mourning a dead girl and playing house with that replacement wife.”Victor leaned forward, voice rising. “We had originally intended to keep her alive for our amusement. A pretty little distraction. A way to keep an eye on you. But she is causing a fight between you and that bastard Kyle. Sanity must return to the Hart

Jason’s POVThe car hummed along the coastal road, windows down, salt air whipping through the cabin.Jason gripped the steering wheel tighter than necessary. His phone buzzed again in the cup holder … Violet’s name flashing on the screen for the fourth time in ten minutes. He cut the call without answering. The ringing stopped. Silence returned, broken only by the crash of waves against the cliffs below. He felt a pang of regret, at how he had treated her earlier. Violet had been there when he was at his lowest. She had listened to his rage about Isabelle, about Aria, about how everything hurt. She had offered comfort, warmth, and her body. But tonight, after seeing what she did at the ball … the public accusations, the fake documents, the glee in her eyes as she tried to destroy Aria … something inside him had finally snapped. He couldn’t keep pretending. She wasn’t helping him heal. She was feeding on his pain.Still, the guilt lingered. He had used her too. He had let her bel

Kyle’s POVAria finally fell asleep in my arms. Her breathing was soft and even now, her body curled against mine like she belonged there. The bruises on my face from the fight with Jason were still tender, but I didn’t care. I held her tighter, one arm locked around her waist, the other hand resting possessively on her bare hip. She was warm. Soft. Mine.I waited until I was sure she was deep under. Then I carefully slipped out of bed, pulled on a pair of sweatpants, and walked to the balcony overlooking the dark ocean. The night air was cool. The waves crashed below like a steady heartbeat.I dialed Lucien. He answered on the second ring, voice smooth and amused even at this hour.“Mon frère. How is the little goddess enjoying her breathing space?”I kept my voice low. “She heard them on the plane. Two women talking shit about her. Calling her the side-graced heiress. Saying she stole money.”Lucien laughed … a low, delighted sound that sent a chill down my spine even though I exp

Third Person POV The private jet hummed smoothly through the sky.Aria sat by the window, legs tucked under her, watching the clouds drift below like soft white fields. For the first time in weeks, her mood lifted a little. She had always loved traveling. The feeling of leaving the ground, the quiet thrill of new air and new horizons. Even after everything that had happened, this small escape felt good.Kyle sat beside her, one hand resting on her thigh, thumb stroking slow circles. He had arranged the whole trip … a private coastal house, just the two of them. She turned to him with a small smile. “I missed this. Seeing new places. It feels… normal. My daddy loved traveling with me when I was younger.”Kyle leaned over and kissed her temple. “That’s why I planned it. You deserve to feel happy again.”For a few minutes, the bad feelings from the ball faded. She leaned her head on his shoulder and closed her eyes, letting the engine’s low hum relax her.Everything was going well un

Jason’s POVThe ballroom was still buzzing when I arrived.I hadn’t planned to come. I had told myself I was done with this world of galas and gossip. But when I saw the live coverage on my phone …Violet standing in front of the cameras, accusing Aria of misconduct, the shocked faces, the flashing lights … something inside me snapped.I drove straight to the venue. The security at the door recognized me and let me through without question. The moment I stepped inside, I scanned the room.Violet was still there, surrounded by a small crowd, champagne glass in hand, smiling like she had just won a victory. Her silver dress shimmered under the lights. She looked triumphant. My blood boiled.I pushed through the guests, ignoring the whispers and stares. When I reached her, I grabbed her elbow firmly but not roughly.“Violet,” I said, voice low. “Outside. Now.”She turned, surprise flashing across her face, quickly replaced by a sweet, innocent smile.“Jason! You came. I was just…”“Now.”

Aria’s POVThe Elite Art Benefactors Ball glittered like a dream I used to have.Crystal chandeliers cast warm light over the grand ballroom. Soft music played. Waiters moved with trays of champagne. People in elegant gowns and tuxedos laughed and talked about art, deals, and the future.I stood near the entrance on Kyle’s arm, wearing the deep burgundy gown he had chosen. It hugged my body and made my curls stand out. Kyle looked sharp in his black tuxedo, his hand resting possessively on my lower back. The bruises on his face were carefully covered, but I could still see the faint shadow if I looked closely.People noticed us immediately.“Ms. Myles! Congratulations on the award!”“Wonderful to see you back!”Cameras flashed. Reporters called my name. I smiled gracefully and answered with the poise I had practiced for years.“Thank you. The gallery has always been about bringing art to more people, and tonight is a celebration of that.”Kyle stayed right beside me, smiling politel

Aria’s POVI woke up to sunlight streaming through the guest room window and the buzz of my phone on the nightstand.A text from Marcus: “Papers are ready.
