Victor POV

My skin felt hot from inside, even with the cold air brushing against me as I sat alone on the balcony of my mansion.

The city lights stretched endlessly in front of me, but my mind wasn’t on the view.

The woman who loved me unconditionally, the one who helped build my empire from scratch, but now she said she was done. Instead of continuing with me, she chose to go back and rebuild her father’s company.

A faint scoff escaped my lips. I knew the kind of woman she was. The type who could turn nothing into something. If she truly decided to pursue this, she would succeed. And that meant one thing: she could become my competition. My grip tightened around the glass in my hand as a quiet fear crept into my chest. I need to act fast.

“Ohh, this is beautiful!”Selena’s cheerful voice broke through my thoughts. she walked over and casually sat on my lap like she always did.“Look at this,” she said, showing me her phone. “The jewelry Aurielius is auctioning tomorrow. They tagged us.”

I glanced at the screen and smiled.

“I can’t wait to own that jewelry, everyone will talk about me!” she said, her eyes shining with excitement.

“I’ll get it for you, my pinky boo,” I said, patting her short hair.

But deep down, I already knew the cost of the jewelry was enormous. It was something that had to remain a secret; a secret my mother must never know, and definitely not Lysandra.

“Oh, I love you so much,” she said with a bright smile as she leaned closer. I didn’t hesitate; I locked my lips with hers before she stood up and headed back inside.

Her slender figure, soft skin, and that celebrity face… she was the kind of woman any man could fall for, unlike Lysandra.

She was moderately thick, with a round face, not the type that would turn heads, but the fact that she was smart. Intelligent. The kind of woman who made things work without needing praise. For some reason, thinking about her in that way made me feel incomplete. My jaw tightened.

I have to stop her before things get out of hand.

Just then, my phone rang.

My heart skipped a beat. Originally, the plan was simple: Lysandra would secure the government contract for me, and then I would divorce her and marry Selena, the woman of my dreams, with her beautiful face and nice figure. Everything was supposed to go smoothly, but now things were getting out of hand.

“Mother,” I said quietly.

“Victor, the divorce papers are ready,” her cold voice came through. “Has she gotten the contract?”

“No,” I replied.

“What do you mean, no?! We don’t have time,” she snapped. “We need that contract, and you're divorcing her.

“I’ll make sure she gets the contract,” I said firmly. The call ended immediately.

At that moment, headlights pierced the darkness outside as a car pulled into the compound. From where I stood, I watched as Lysandra stepped out and walked inside.

In the past, she would have come looking for me, begging me to come to bed and complaining about how I had ignored her all day. But now, she didn’t even glance in my direction. She walked straight to her room and slammed the door.

For the first time, something about her made me uneasy, and the more she behaved like this, the more it seemed like everything in my life was beginning to fall apart.“Mary,” I called out.

The maid I hired rushed in immediately.

“Yes, sir.”

“I want you to keep an eye on my wife,” I said. “I want to know her movements and everything she does.”

“Sir… I’m sorry, but Mrs Lysandra has been different lately. I’m scared she might kill me if she finds out.”She said, fear flashing across her face.

“Do what I asked,” I snapped. “Or you lose your job.”

She flinched.

I knew she wasn’t lying. The woman in that room…She was no longer the same Lysandra. She was becoming something else.

“O-Okay, sir,” Mary said, trembling as she rushed out.

Lysandra POV

The city of golden lights welcomed me as I drove into the Montclaire mansion.

Sealing the government contract with Williams and preparing my jewelry for auction with Aurieluis were all behind me, for now.

I walked straight into my apartment, and the room was quiet. Just the way I needed it.

Without wasting time, I went to the spot beside my bed and pulled out my laptop. I opened it and logged into the government portal, registering for the pilot project.

Everything moved smoothly, of course, it did. I had already planned this long before today. Once I was done, I moved to my desk and picked up one of the books from the stack. I began reading.

Not to refresh my mind, but to prepare. This time…I wasn’t building for anyone else. Everything I build now will be mine.

The inside of the Citadel library was tense. Stacks of books I was supposed to read for the pilot project trial lay scattered across my desk, but my gaze was fixed firmly on my phone. Hours after the gala summit, it had been restless with dozens of calls and messages from Victor and his family, all of which I ignored. Meanwhile, Williams refused to pick up my calls after the news of my pregnancy. I had sent him texts explaining everything, but still no reply.Just then, the library door burst open. Victor stormed in, towering like a giant seeking his prey. I didn’t flinch. I simply watched him.His gaze finally landed on me in the corner of the library.“Lysandra!” he roared, striding angrily toward me. He slammed his hands onto my desk, the impact sending books tumbling to the floor. I stared at the fallen books, then back at him.“I will take everything from you,” he said, his eyes blazing red, “but I swear to God, I will never let you bring down my company.”There was a side of him

  • The Wife He Shouldn't Have Betrayed    My Hidden Twin

The scan room was bright and cold, yet my body felt hot as I struggled to hold the full pressure in my bladder. My fingers gripped the sheet tightly. As the doctor moved the scanner over my stomach, my eyes stayed fixed on the white screen in front of me. There they were… two tiny forms in black and white.I could see tiny hands and feet. They looked bigger than the last time. More real. The memory of that night replayed in my mind. I had surprised Victor on his birthday, and we ended up having sex. It was the first and last time we were intimate. Two weeks later, I realized I had missed my period and tested positive. When I broke the news to him, he claimed he was drunk.I stared at the screen as the baby moved slightly, almost kicking. I noticed another tiny hand shifting, as if it were sucking its thumb. My heart melted at the sight. Then, his voice echoed in my mind: “Get rid of it... We’ll have another one later.” I almost laughed bitterly because I knew the truth. He wanted me

  • The Wife He Shouldn't Have Betrayed    The Beast I Called My Husband

Even with the cool night air and the bright lights of the mansion, my mind kept circling back to Victor's strange message as I stepped into the vast sitting room. Then I froze. My heart tightened at the sight before me. The dining area had been transformed into a garden of romance.A banquet of flowers adorned the long mahogany table in a lavish arrangement. Bottles of champagne and neatly arranged wine glasses shimmered under the dim red lights. Victor sat at the table, his shirt half-buttoned, and his posture relaxed. His eyes glinted in the soft lighting as he held a red rose between his lips, staring at me in a strangely seductive way. I walked forward and sat opposite him, watching him in his dismay. “What is all this for?” I asked, my voice calm but firm.He removed the rose slowly.“Lysandra… you know how deeply I love you,” he said, his voice soft, almost hypnotic.“Victor,” I cut in, unfazed. “There’s no media here. Be honest with yourself.”His expression snapped. “This i
