LOGINAt twenty-eight, Samantha is just trying to find her footing in an urban town on the outskirts of Atlanta, leaning on her best friend Chloe while hiding the emotional scars left by her toxic ex, Marcus. She never expected to cross paths with Rick. At twenty-four, Rick is a respected, fiercely feared self-made figure who already owns The Foundry—a tattoo shop where the town's elite come to get inked—and secretly leads the Black Obsidian MC, a calculated, strategic group that protects the town from true chaos. Rick knows he’s younger, but watching her ex treat her like trash triggers a dark, possessive hunger inside him. He hates that Marcus didn’t treat her half as well as he would. When a reckless rival gang, the Jackals, targets Sammie to tear down his empire, Rick’s restraint snaps. He will risk a full-scale turf war, his empire, and his very life to ensure she belongs to no one else.

"What do you mean you can't make it?" I yelled into the phone, my voice already breaking.
"It got busy at work and I can't leave just yet," Marcus sighed across the line, his tone entirely flat. Completely nonchalant.
"Babe, it's the weekend and it's our two-year anniversary! I made these reservations months ago," I pleaded, the sting of tears prickling the backs of my eyes. "I've been sitting in this parking lot for over thirty minutes waiting for you. You can't just do this to me."
As if the universe heard me and decided to rub salt into the wound, the clouds suddenly opened up. A violent sheet of heavy rain began to pour down, hammering mercilessly against my car's windshield.
"Look, I gotta go," Marcus snapped carelessly. "We can just go next weekend. They need me here. Catch you later."
Click.
The line went dead.
I stared blankly at the dark screen, a bitter, disbelieving scoff escaping my lips. "He didn't just do that..." I whispered to no one in particular.
I sat frozen in the driver's seat of my car with a completely broken heart, listening to the roaring storm outside, wondering where the hell everything had gone so wrong between us. Two years of a relationship, reduced to a careless hang-up.
Wiping a stray tear before it could ruin my makeup, I shoved the car into reverse. I wasn't going to sit here and cry. I needed a drink, and I knew exactly where to go.
Ten minutes later, I pulled up to The Foundry.
The bar was packed, buzzing with the low thrum of music and the heavy scent of whiskey and rain. I pushed through the glass doors, soaking wet, looking completely distraught but trying to hold my head high.
Sitting at a booth near the back, surrounded by a group of wealthy-looking investors, was Rick.
Rick was twenty-four, but he looked absolutely nothing like his age. He was massive, with broad shoulders, an imposing frame, and a commanding presence that ran the entire room. He ran the bar on the main floor, owned a highly successful tattoo shop on the upper floor, and commanded a motorcycle gang that did more to protect this town than the local police ever would. He was the definition of a bad boy, doing incredibly well for himself.
He was also four years younger than me.
At twenty-eight, younger guys had never been my spec. I had strictly friendzoned him the moment we met, but Rick made it terrifyingly hard to keep him there. He was brilliant, fiercely mentally aware, and possessed a maturity that put men twice his age to shame.
The moment I stepped inside, Rick’s dark eyes locked onto me. Even in my ruined, rain-soaked state, his gaze tracked me as if I were the only person in the room. He didn't hesitate. He abruptly cut off the investor speaking to him, excused himself from the table, and walked straight toward me.
"Sammie," he said, his deep, gravelly voice instantly cutting through the noise of the bar. He took in my trembling lower lip and the damp fabric of my dress. "What happened?"
"Marcus," I choked out, the humiliation of the night finally catching up to me. "He stood me up. For our anniversary."
Rick’s jaw clenched so hard I thought it might shatter. A dangerous, predatory darkness flashed in his eyes, his massive chest rising and falling as he fought to keep his temper under control. He stepped closer, invading my space, shielding me from the rest of the bar.
He reached out, his large, warm hand gently cupping my jaw, forcing me to look up into his intense gaze.
"Lord knows if you were mine, I would cross seven seas and seven oceans to get to you," he whispered, his voice vibrating with a terrifying, beautiful sincerity. "I would walk through the fires of purgatory for you, Sammie."
He used the nickname he knew I liked, and in that exact moment, the boundary of the friendzone felt incredibly thin.
Samantha's POVEarlier that day…It was almost closing time at work, and Chloe, Maya, and I were already packing our things."How about a couple of drinks at The Foundry tonight?" Maya said absentmindedly, zipping up her bag.Chloe gave me a quick glance and burst out laughing.Maya looked up, completely confused. "Chloe?""Maya, you are so clueless it's cute," Chloe said, continuing to laugh."Samantha, what the hell is wrong with your friend?" Maya asked, throwing her hands up."I mean... she's your friend too," I pointed out with a grin."Y'all be shady as fuck," Maya muttered, rolling her eyes.Chloe finally cut her laugh short, leaning back against the front desk with a knowing smile fixed squarely on me."I could use some drinks, but not at The Foundry," I said, lifting my bag onto my shoulder."Well, I heard there's a new spot in town. Let's go there," Chloe suggested, pulling her jacket on."Good thing I drove," I said as we walked toward the door. The door opened before we co
Rick’s POV"Get back! Everyone clear the tree line, now!" my voice boomed across the grass, cutting through the festival music like a siren.I didn't wait for questions. I handed the little boy off to a pale, frantic mother who had come running from the food stalls, shoving them both behind Bear’s massive frame.“Keep an eye on your child next time, okay?“Yes sir. Thank you”“You're welcome” I said moving along."Keep the crowd moving! Do not let anyone near this side of the park!" I ordered Bear, who immediately barked commands to Jax and Viper to form a perimeter around the families.Within seconds, Chase, Kepter, and Tracker were at my side near the weeping willow. The heavy shadow of the tree felt like an open grave. On the bench sat the brown package, its faint, mechanical click-tick-click echoing in the quiet air.Chase dropped to his knees, pulling a small tactical flashlight from his pocket. Before he joined the club, Chase had served a year in Army ordnance and explosive dis
Rick's POV "Still no word from them?""None, boss," Kepter answered, standing by the edge of the heavy oak table."Hmm... interesting," I murmured, my index finger slowly tracing the rim of my glass, watching the amber liquid swirl against the crystal."We all know the Jackals like to play dirty," Chase chimed in, leaning against the doorframe with his arms crossed. "So their silence certainly means something."I glanced up. That was probably the longest sentence Chase had uttered since he walked through the door today. He wasn't wrong, though. Don Pedro and his Jackals didn't just go quiet out of goodwill—a quiet enemy was usually an enemy already setting a trap."We hold the event as planned," I said, my voice carrying a low, gravelly steel that instantly locked the room into attention. "Get everything ready. I need all of you surrounding the town square until it's wrapped up. Make sure every single corner is secure. The safety of our town is our priority.""Consider it done," Kept
Samantha’s POV"Girl, you know I'm dying to know about last night," Chloe whispered to me as we walked out of our team meeting. The project campaign for Peter Rossi—our mysterious, high-profile investor—had officially kicked off, and my brain was running on a mix of coffee and residual electricity from this morning."Well... nothing happened."The second those words left my mouth, Chloe stopped dead in her tracks and grabbed my arm."Girl, what are you doing?" I asked, suppressing a smirk like I didn't know I was driving her crazy. I mean, I wasn't entirely messing with her—technically, nothing beyond a whole lot of soul-baring and a killer kiss had happened."What do you mean nothing happened?" Chloe demanded, her eyes wide."Just what I said." I shrugged, unable to keep a wide, stupid smile from spreading across my face."Why in God's name are you smiling? There is nothing funny about this!" she gasped, looking at me with such deep, dramatic concern that it only made the whole situ
