Picnic Date

“Looks like you’re ready to be discharged,” the doctor said as he checked my vitals one more time before signing me off the clinic, “do you have any parents to come get you?”

“I don’t. My dad is away on a business trip. He left right after we moved here,” I lied, getting off the bed and putting my shirt on. I was ready to leave and as I was about to head out, he stopped me.

“And your mom?”

Kind of nosy, if you ask me. With a fake smile plastered on my face, I turned around and looked at him straight into his eyes.

“She died, end of story,” I replied, leaving the clinic. I hurried out of the pack house before the Alpha saw me and stopped by the cave to see if my Father was there, but there was no sign of him or the wolves.

It was the calm before the storm, I knew that for sure and I had to prepare for it. Being someone’s mate and realizing my Father was a jerk has made me think about my future.
