Chapter 45: The Deception

I stumbled, my back hitting the window, there was so much blood loss, I was struggling to think that Kennedy could still be alive. I tried breathing in and out of my nose but all I inhaled was the scent of Kennedy's blood, it left a pungent taste in my mouth. This was my fault, I should've had protection on her at all times, I thought that Massi tech would be safe, and I was too reliant on our connection. How could I have made such a costly error in judgment.

I tried to feel out for Kennedy again, grasping at any signs of life. A small string vibrated so softly in my chest, as if she were in a deep sleep. Abundance of hope sprang to life in me, swelling tears in my eyes, but I held them back. Sheriff Ricci and my father finally caught up to me. Ricci stopped in his tracks at the blood on the floor.

My father took one look at my face and unraveled. Kennedy's desk flew into the air violently colliding with the wall. Computer equipment and office supplies littered the space. I
