—•AVERY•—

I woke up in an unfamiliar bedroom, on a bed softer than any I'd ever slept in.

The ceiling above me was painted with intricate patterns, and silk curtains billowed gently from open windows that let in a cool breeze.

For a moment, I thought I was dreaming.

Then the memories came rushing back—Kira attacking me, Alpha Damon stepping in, his impossible claim about my baby.

I sat up with a gasp, my hand instinctively going to my stomach.

"Your pup is fine," a deep voice said from across the bedroom.

I whipped my head around to see him—Alpha Damon—sitting in a large armchair, watching me with those intense hazel eyes.

In the dim glow of the room, he looked even more handsome than before, but no less dangerous. His sheer size was intimidating; even seated, I could tell he towered over most men. The muscles of his arms strained against the fabric of his shirt, and the set of his jaw spoke of a man unaccustomed to being disobeyed.

Fear shot through me. I was alo

  • The Wrong Alpha’s Heir    Chapter 71

—• DAMON POV•—The afternoon sun was bright and scorching overhead, but the shade of the training field pavilion gave me some relief. A guard stood quietly at my left, his posture straight, while a maid stood on my right, holding out a silver tray with water and a towel in case I needed it.The sound of fists meeting flesh, the grunts of effort, the barked orders from their instructor… It all blended together, steady and rhythmic. It should have been a distraction, but my wolf and I both knew why I had dragged myself out here. I wasn’t supposed to be here. Not really. The Alpha doesn’t waste time watching junior warriors practice. I had council meetings, reports stacked on my desk, lands that needed my judgment. But the truth was, I needed something—anything—to keep my mind from going back to her.Avery.The scar on her face. The way she had looked at me with so much hurt. The way she had held the baby, and for the first time, he stopped crying. That memory hadn’t left me since last n

—• AVERY POV•—The morning sun poured into the suite, warm and golden against the curtains. I blinked awake, disoriented for a moment until I remembered where I was. Damon’s hotel.I stretched on the soft mattress, and though my body felt more rested than it had in months, my chest was still heavy. Sleep hadn’t chased away the truth. This wasn’t my home. I couldn’t stay here—not when it tied me to Damon. With a sigh, I swung my legs off the bed and padded toward the bathroom. The marble tiles gleamed under the sunlight, and the scent of fresh towels and soap was almost overwhelming. I turned on the faucet, letting the hot water run until steam fogged up the mirror. As the water ran down my body, I tilted my head back, letting it wash away the exhaustion and the faint smell of the cell that still haunted me. But no matter how hard I scrubbed, I couldn’t wash away the scarred reflection that would greet me again. I stared at myself in the foggy glass when I was done. Hair damp, face pa

  • The Wrong Alpha’s Heir    Chapter 69

—•DAMON’S POV•—The morning light filtered through the tall windows of my office, painting long golden streaks across the floor. Papers were scattered all over my desk, untouched. I had been here all night, drowning in useless reports and files, pretending to work. But the truth was—I hadn’t slept all night. Not even for a second. My wolf was restless. He hadn’t stopped pacing, growling, clawing at the edges of my mind. And I knew why. It was because of her. Avery. Her face haunted me. The scars, the brokenness, but most of all, the way she looked at me last night. Like I was just another person in a long list who had failed her.*You failed her, Damon.* My wolf’s voice was sharp, unrelenting. *She doesn’t trust you because you left her to suffer.* My fist clenched around the pen until it snapped. Ink smeared across my palm, but I didn’t care. I leaned back, shutting my eyes, dragging in a breath that did nothing to ease the fire in my chest.“Avery…” I muttered under my breath, p

  • The Wrong Alpha’s Heir    Chapter 68

—•DAMON’S POV•—I watched Avery storm out of the hotel lobby, her shoulders stiff, her head bent low like she carried the weight of the world. Something twisted inside me as I watched her walk away.My chest burned. The baby had stopped crying in her arms. That was no coincidence. I had seen it with my own eyes—how natural she looked holding the child, how the baby melted into her like it had known her since birth. And yet… she looked at me with nothing but hatred. Before I could think, my feet moved. I shoved the doors open and followed her out into the street. The air was cold, the city already dipped in night. Neon signs flickered along the road, voices and laughter spilling from shops and bars. And then—I heard it. “Pretty little thing,” one of them drawled, his gaze trailing over her. “Scarred, but still… you’ll do.”My wolf’s ears perked instantly.Ahead, two men had cornered Avery in the narrow alley just beside the hotel. One leaned close, reeking of alcohol, his dirty hand

—•AVERY’s POV•—The moment my eyes landed on the child in Jessica’s arms, my heart squeezed so tight I thought I would collapse right there on the marble floor. The baby’s tiny nose, those delicate lips, the soft curve of the face… It was like looking at my own reflection when I was a child. That's my baby! My blood. My flesh. A rush of emotion surged through me. Love, pain, anger, fear—all crashing at once. That was the baby they told me had died. And yet, there he was…in Jessica’s arms! I felt hot tears threatening, but I swallowed them back. If I cried, if I screamed, they would call me mad again.Jessica’s eyes immediately widened when she noticed me standing by the door, hair covering my scarred face, my clothes wrinkled and dirty. She let out a startled cry, stumbling back slightly. Her voice carried fake concern, dripping with poison I had learned too well.“Avery? I-Is that you?” she gasped, clutching the child closer as though I was a ghost come back to haunt her.At the

—•AVERY’s POV•— Some customers turned to look at us. I shook my head quickly, panicking. “Leave me alone,” I whispered, barely able to breathe. "What happened to you Avery?” Kira suddenly changed her demeanor, her tone pretending to be concerned, but I could hear the venom behind it. “Oh my God… look at your face." I stood there, frozen, my mind screaming. Wasn’t she the one who wanted this?! Wasn’t she and Jessica the ones who paid them?! Ryan smirked as he moved back, his eyes raking over me with disgust. “Goddess, Kira… is this really Avery? Or some stray dog they let loose?” He laughed, loud and cruel. “I can’t even look at you without feeling sick. Gosh, you're ruined.” My hands started shaking. I wanted to scream. I wanted to hit him. But the words wouldn’t come out. Instead, I said softly. "Just… stop, please." My voice cracked, and that made Ryan laugh even harder. "Stop?” Kira tilted her head, her red lips curling into a fake pout. “Why should we stop? You didn’t
