MYRA’S POV.

.~~~

I feel that cold chill again.

“It’s nothing, Myra. There is nothing there,” I mutter, trying to push that dreaded feeling down as I head to the door of my small cabin home.

My hand stiffened against my keys as I fiddled with the locks, fighting to get myself into my home even as my body felt enthralled to look back.

I tried not to turn around, tried not to feed on that feeling of something or someone staring at me, watching me... like I was being hunted, like I was its prey.

The only thing I wanted was one normal night on my birthday. After a shift at the vet clinic and my rejection from Doctor Meredith for my position as junior vet had crushed my spirit beyond everything I had hoped.

But I won’t let her break me further. As I recalled the marked date for meeting a realtor in the big city in a few days, I’d saved enough money to open my practice soon enough to help more furry animals.

But right now, I want nothing to do but rest and forget about it all, almost eager to finish my smutty novel that I put down two days ago and just for once not lead into my thoughts from work.

I passed the dark foyer, not bothering to turn on the light as I headed for my bedroom, and just as I sat on the bed, my phone dinged.

Seeing the blue icon of Nate Sander, the male who’s been obsessed with me for months, and he was the only one who cared that today was my birthday.

And evidence of his gift laid daintily on my neck as I caressed the grey stone pendant he'd given me, and he’d promised there would be more as Nate handed me a box that I was supposed to open when home.

NATE: Have you opened it yet?

I read as I pulled the box open, and my eyes widened with surprise from its content. I looked at the two-piece baby blue lingerie inside the box.

MYRA: I have now..

I text back, swallowing back my nerves as I watch the bubbles of his chat type once more.

NATE: Perfect, put it on. I want to see it with your pendant and send a picture to me, my love. You promised.

MYRA: I don’t know, Nate..

I bite my lips, as an intense anxiety fills me. Nate had done nothing but pressure me to date him, shamelessly probed me to sleep with him and give my virginity to him.

NATE: Just for my eyes only, baby, I swear.

he texted back. And maybe it was the thrill of getting attention from him, all the nurses and women in the clinic wanted him, but he’d only wanted me so I wanted to break past my limit and do something I’d never done before for him.

So I rushed to the bathroom, quickly removing my clothes and slipping into the lacy, vibrant baby blue lingerie that fit snugly on my body.

It hugged my curves, but it was a bit too revealing. With the cup barely covering my nipples, I whispered to myself, “Do not back out of this now, Myra.” I had to put my big girl pants on; I wasn't a kid, and this was adult flirting... I think.

Next, I fix my hair, straightening the parts of my naturally curly hair to ease my hair as I reached for the red lipstick I bought some months ago but never used, but I was sure it would make my grey eyes stand out.

Smearing the lipstick carefully on my lips as I looked at my reflection, I was barely recognizable and barely comfortable as goosebumps grew on my skin, watching the tight ropes wrapped around my curves. Should I be doing this? Should my heart be beating this hard that I feel it so hard against my ribs?

I hear another ding on my phone, reminding me that Nate was waiting. I take one last shaky breath before I walk out of my bathroom and reach for my phone.

I walk to my door-length mirror, kneel on the floor, and awkwardly strike a pose with the pendant. Was this good enough? Right? I cringed, slowing my breath as I pressed send, throwing my phone to my bed as I awaited a response, but none came.

Just then, I felt the ground outside tremble, and the sound of something large slamming into my yard made me scream, 'What the hell was that?' A crushing feeling of dread washed over me.

The sound of something large that came crashing in my backyard broke my train of thought. “No, no, no! Why me!” As I walk to the back door across the kitchen, my heart racing.

I reached for a robe to cover myself and then grab the baton from my closet as my hip healed on it so hard I could see my fingers pale as I let out a shaky breath.

“It’s probably just nothing; it’s your imagination! It’s your imagination, Myra…” I try to quell the anxiety in my mind as I walk towards the door, and with shaky hands, I open it, seeing that the large willow tree I played with when I was a child has crashed down.

This wasn’t normal, having a ginormous tree crash so hard without an earthquake or even a sign of a tornado was all the glaring signs that I needed to know that I should turn back, but I didn’t.

Instead, I trailed closer, swallowing down my nerves, I noticed a trail of blood leading to the shed. I crease my eyes smaller to look past the large black shadow that took over the shed.

But then a chill ran down my spine when I realized the large black shadow was the entity that I was looking for, as it reared its large head and red crimson eye stared back at me.

And in that moment, I’d witnessed something I'd never imagined, my hands trembling as the baton fell from my grip as eyes widened in disbelief to never having seen anything like this even in my 22 years of living.

I peered at the creature, the giant, barely conscious beast. A black wolf appeared in my courtyard, wounded.

I didn’t know it yet, but my life was screwed already. And my life was about to change forever.

“So what’s the plan?” Tarrin's voice echoed out as they all gathered in Draven's study. The mood was solemn and quiet while Jorah stayed by Myra’s side. Myra had been quiet since the encounter with the lycan; there was a distant, lost look in her eyes that held troubling doubt and guilt as she stared into a void. Enzo wasn’t at all thrilled by the news the moment they got back from the outer towers, with the response to the lycans’ demands being Myra or a war they didn’t want. Their demand was one that Draven didn’t stand for at all, and one that caused the lycans to make a graceful threat toward Draven and his pack. The lycans were known to be cunning, and they found their leverage in the pack; they wanted to control it, and they needed a way out. “So you are telling me that they wanted to take Myra? Why would they do that?” Jorah called out instead, with a frown at his temples as his hand stayed firmly pressed to Myra’s shoulders. “We just h

Verik was here. The vicious king who had no remorse and cut a man's head off with no mercy—no, Myra could recount how he was excited when he did it. He was a bloodthirsty tyrant. Myra could still recall the mad look of exhilaration in his gaze when blood spilled on the tent carpet and Alaric’s head rolled. Their laughter still haunts Myra as Reilania’s broken face pops in her mind and her heart squeezes. Myra finds her heart jumping from Draven’s growl. He was not amused in the slightest if the Lucan kings appeared to his pack, as his eyes slit with deadly fury… “That bastard is here again. Does he want a death wish?” Draven called as the alpha paced in his study just as Tarrin sighed. “I hate to say it or admire it, but he does have the diplomatic right to be here for the death of a lycan that one of our own caused. His brows were knotted into a frown, which came as a surprise to Myra, who never saw the gamma unhappy, as he was always with a smile or playful smirk on hi

“What did you tell him? What did you tell Draven that made him talk about cutting off my mating ceremony?” Navori screamed at Myra. Myra is taken aback, eyes wide, her ears and cheeks heated from the attraction as she watches the steam rattle off Navori's eyes, only to see them fill in her gaze as she looks at Myra with such disdain. “I don’t understand what you mean…” Myra starts quickly, still surprised by Navori's claims. “I’m sure you are a hybrid whore! Something you must have said influenced Draven to try and break our mating ceremony! Do you know how long I’ve waited for him?” She screams. “How much I’ve sacrificed to be by his side, to be his queen, and you think you can just come along with your filthy human blood and take my place!” Navori rages. And from the harsh stench of alcohol she’d been drinking, she looked distraught and not the temperamental and elegant woman she’s known for in the pack. But Myra was stunned; a part of her still couldn’t process what D

  • The alpha beast who marked me.    Breaking point

MYRA’S POV. I felt his presence before I even saw him, as I looked to my side to see pairs of feet dangling in the air as Draven had them both in the air with his hands wrapped around their throats. “We…we are…sorry, Alpha, spare us,” one pleads. “Please…have mercy…” The others choke out as I see their bodies writhing in fear and in survival mode. Undoubtedly they deserved to be punished, yes, but not dead, and Draven was going to kill them right now if I didn’t intervene. And I’ve had enough of the rumors already, and this would be catastrophic, knowing a Lycan already lost his life to me not too long ago and now I have a bounty on my head and war could be waged. “You’d think I’d let you live after I found you with my woman? Huh?” He called and slammed both of them to the wall as his voice blasted me out of my thoughts. “Draven, stop!” I find myself hissing out as I look around panicked, seeing if we are alone. What if weird rumors begin spreading tomorrow? “Please,

  • The alpha beast who marked me.    A calm distraction

Myra’s POV. I had hoped, more than that, truly wished, that after that day that would mask my need for him to hate him, I hoped that I could truly hate it, but the feel of the shift was something that I truly loved. I wanted to experience it again; I couldn’t control my newfound feral side. I needed to learn how to control my change and primal need to be close to him. It scared me how much I’ve been looking forward to every moment that Draven had opted to train me, to help me control my wolf side. But he was the obvious problem; not only had my wolf gained a horny head on her own, but I found myself seeking out the alpha who was the object of my desires. And fuck, I should have known how dangerous it was to accept his offer, yet here I find myself once more trapped with the familiar deep sea green eyes staring back at me. No, I couldn’t do this. At first, learning had seemed fun, but both males had been hounding me at my back, with Tarrin reminding me of his words to tak

  • The alpha beast who marked me.    Pillow talk

The moment his tongue licked through her folds, Myra’s words were nonexistent, and her world sparked in flames and came alive. Draven licked her pussy like a hungry beast, devouring her juices as her body trembled with each lick of his tongue. The heat in her core grew as Myra held onto the sheets for dear life, biting back her moan but was stopped by Draven, who pulled her legs apart. “I want to fucking hear your voice call out my name … You’re like my own personal melody,” the alpha snarled with heat licking to the core, causing her to erupt into orgasmic flames as her chest pounded. "Draven..Ngh" She looked toward Draven, whose eyes were darkened with need for her, enthralled and possessive, leaning over her with his ravenous gaze studying her every breath as his cock hardened. “This pussy belongs to me,” he growled. His hands palmed at the very top of her breast and back to her aching, dipping cunt. Myra didn’t know what was wrong with her, but she couldn’t say no.
