The next day came before Silius was ready for it.

He was still asleep when something disturbed his rest — a hand, slow and deliberate, moving over him in the dark. At first he thought he was imagining it, some half-formed dream dissolving at the edges of sleep. But the touch grew bolder, slipping beneath his shirt, and it wasn't imagined at all.

His eyes snapped open.

Mathew was lying behind him, arms wrapped tightly around his waist, his hand lingering somewhere it had absolutely no right to b

  • The alpha's forbidden desire   chapter 110

Mathew got out of the shower and found Silius still sitting on the bed, lost somewhere deep in thought, his eyes fixed on nothing at all. He crossed the room and cupped Silius's face gently between his hands."What's wrong now?" he asked."N... nothing," Silius said quickly, forcing the phone he'd been holding back onto the nightstand before Mathew could notice.Mathew studied him a moment longer, unconvinced, but didn't push. "...." He let the silence stretch, then finally said, "Shall we go out then?""Do we really have to?" Silius asked, the words heavier than the question warranted."Yes," Mathew said, grabbing his hand and pulling him up from the bed with easy insistence. "We need to clear that head of yours. Get some fresh air, and everything will be fine."Silius didn't argue. He let himself be led out the door, down to the car, and across the city to the restaurant Mathew had reserved — of course reserved, of course entirely empty except for the two of them, tucked into the VI

  • The alpha's forbidden desire   chapter 109

Mathew walked into the room and found Silius sitting on the edge of the bed, staring at nothing in particular, his shoulders drawn in on themselves in a way that made him look smaller than he actually was."What's wrong?" Mathew asked, already crossing the room toward him."Huh?" Silius looked up, startled out of whatever thoughts had pulled him under. "*Look at him.*"Mathew crouched slightly, cupping Silius's face in both hands, tilting it up gently. "You look sad," he said, softer now. "What's wrong?""Um.... I..." Silius's gaze dropped, unable to hold his eyes. "You know you can tell me anything, right?" Mathew pressed, patient in a way that felt almost startling after everything that had come before.Silius said nothing."I heard your mom visited," Mathew continued, watching him carefully. "Did she say something?"Silius lifted his eyes just enough to meet his gaze, and whatever Mathew saw there seemed to answer the question before Silius said a single word."So it is what she sa

*In Mathew and Silius's room~***KNOCK KNOCK**"It's open," Silius called, not bothering to look up from where he sat folding the last of the clothes from their trip. The door swung open, and his mother stepped inside with the easy familiarity of someone who had never once considered knocking might mean *wait*."Hi, baby," she said warmly."H... hi, Mom," Silius replied, straightening a little, already bracing without quite knowing for what yet."Where's Mathew?" she asked, glancing around the room."He went to the office.""Ooh." She settled onto the edge of the bed, folding her hands neatly in her lap, the picture of casual concern. "You guys just got back from your honeymoon, right? How was the trip?""Ooh... it was—" Silius started, but she was already moving on before he could finish."Are you guys having a baby soon?"Silius's expression flattened into a frown. "We just got married.""Don't tell me you haven't thought about having a baby yet," she pressed, tilting her head, an e

Mile Graves had never been particularly good at taking no for an answer — a trait that, depending on who you asked, was either his greatest strength or his most exhausting flaw.He walked into the towering glass lobby of Micheal's company with his chin high and his most confident smile already in place. "Hi," he said to the receptionist, leaning against the desk with practiced ease. "I'm here to apply for an internship here."The man behind the desk glanced up, polite but clearly unmoved. "I'm so sorry, sir, but we're not hiring anyone at the moment."Mile blinked, undeterred. "Ooh... but Micheal told me otherwise."The receptionist's expression shifted, wary now. "You know the CEO?""Yup," Mile said breezily, "I do."The man's face didn't change, but Mile could practically hear the thought behind his eyes anyway — *another one pretending to know the CEO just to get a job.* He didn't say it out loud, of course. He didn't have to. Mile had seen that particular flavor of skepticism enou

"I wanna fucking go back," Silius said again, "and that's final."Mathew looked at him for a long moment, and then, to Silius's utter disbelief, he simply said, "Okay."Silius blinked. "I wanna— wait, what?""I said okay." Mathew's voice was calm, almost gentle, none of the manipulation from the night before lingering in it now. "If that's what you want, that's what we'll do."Silius stared at him, searching his face for the catch, the hidden condition, the smirk that usually followed statements like this one. He found none of it. "Really?" he asked, wary. "You agreed to me, just like that?""Like I said before, baby," Mathew replied, "I'll listen to you."The words should have felt like relief. Instead they landed somewhere strange and unsettled in Silius's chest, and before he could stop himself, the accusation slipped out."You didn't listen to me when I didn't want to get married to you."Mathew's expression shifted, something flickering behind his eyes before he could smooth it b

Silius didn't wait to hear an explanation. He shoved him back with a startled, furious sound, twisting free of his grip before Mathew could tighten it further."Ooh, you're awake," Mathew said, entirely too pleased with himself, pressing a kiss to Silius's neck as though nothing at all had just happened. "That's good."*"What the fuck are you—"* Silius's voice cracked with fury as he wrenched away, putting the width of the bed between them, chest heaving, every nerve in his body lit up with s
