Carmella grabbed Dominique by the arm and pulled her into the house, taking Adam with her. She needed to leave Enrico alone with Antonella so he could convince her that the best thing to do was to stay in the city.

“What do you think you’re doing, Mom?” Dominique tried to go back, but Carmella stopped her.

“Let them talk,” Carmella said, heading for the door and locking it. “Don’t meddle where you’re not wanted, Dominique. You can’t defend Antonella all the time.”

Dominique expressed her displeasure but couldn’t say anything that would convince Carmella that her actions were a mistake. She dragged herself to the door, pressing her ear against the wood, trying to listen to their conversation.

All was silent.

In the kitchen, Enrico dragged himself to a bench near Antonella. He looked terrible. His gray hair, once neatly combed, barely hid the thinning spots on his scalp. His wrinkled skin seemed even more worn now. He let out a deep sigh, looking at Antonella and asking her for a favor.

Although she knew she needed to rest a little more, Antonella got up before the sun rose or the rooster crowed, as it did every morning. She looked at the clock; it was about to be four that morning. She felt her bladder full and left the room toward the bathroom. Before that, she glanced to the side, at the empty spot where Adam used to sleep, and her chest filled with fear and anxiety again. She just wished that the nightmare would end and Adam would return to her side as soon as possible. She thought about how guilty she felt about leaving Adam alone with a stranger. After a few minutes of sitting in the restroom, feeding her mind with dark thoughts, she got up, dressed, and left. This time, she walked through the dark hallway, which gradually lit up as she approached the kitchen. She found Carmella sitting behind the counter with a large cup in her hands. Her eyes widened when she saw Antonella, but then she looked away when she realized she was appro

  • The billionaire's secret son   Chapter 96

Benjamim spent a long time just looking at Alessia, whose eyes were deep and red. In fact, her entire face was red, showing she had cried a lot. He didn’t take his eyes off hers for even a second, patiently waiting for her to say anything, hoping that her words wouldn’t be enough to start a fight between them. She shrank, crossing her arms over her body and lowering her head when she saw him approach. It was strange for her to feel uncomfortable in his presence, especially in that situation. She wanted to run into his arms and find some comfort, but Alessia knew how hurt Benjamim was by her and how much he would reject her if she did that.“Antonella got what she always wanted.” Her voice came out hoarse, but Benjamim didn’t like what he heard. “She convinced you that this bastard is your son.”Benjamim’s face contorted. He clenched his fists and shot Alessia a threatening look. It was a pity she wasn’

Antonella felt that she couldn’t bear to stay another minute near Enrico, especially knowing that he was about to tell Alessia the truth. She sat on a bench in a spot where she couldn’t see or hear the two talking, and immediately, her childhood memories resurfaced. When they were children, she and Alessia played together. They were friends and had fun for many years. There came a time when Antonella began to notice Enrico’s preference for his younger daughter. She always saw Alessia receiving more gifts and more affection while she was scolded and kicked.Francesca had always tried to soften Enrico’s unjust treatment of his two daughters, but even that couldn’t erase Antonella’s feeling of being rejected by her father. As Alessia grew up and realized that Enrico would always be by her side, she let go of the affection she had for her sister and began rejecting her as well. Remembering this, Antonella exhaled sharply, closing

Alessia quickened her pace, passing by Enrico just seconds later, heading straight for Antonella. As the woman with slightly darker red hair than her own moved effortlessly, Antonella had the unsettling feeling that Alessia was there only to cause trouble.Antonella wouldn’t allow it.Noticing that Alessia was about to pass her and enter Adam’s room—after all, she had seen her coming out of there—Antonella grabbed her arm firmly, stopping her.“What do you think you’re doing?” Antonella saw Alessia’s expression harden.“I came to stop Benjamim from finding out that boy is his son,” Alessia said, swallowing the lump forming in her throat. “I won’t let you have everything.”A slight smile crossed Antonella’s lips, and that gesture deeply bothered Alessia. She looked toward the room, then into Antonella’s eyes, wondering if she wasn’t being too naïve.Antonella’s palms were damp as she finally let go of her younger sister. She looked at her again, with the tired gaze of someone who didn’

The sound of her hurried footsteps grew closer and closer to the room where he would take the test. Benjamim walked past Adam’s room, craning his neck to see the boy lying on the hospital bed, so fragile. He wished it wasn’t too late, that the test he was about to take would come back positive, and he would save the life of the son he barely knew. His chest filled with emotion as he finally grasped what was happening. Now he had a son, the heir he had always wanted, with the woman he had left at the altar. He glanced at Antonella, who was walking silently beside him.Antonella watched him enter the room where the test would be done and disappear. She had no one to lean on at that moment when her emotions were so heightened. She felt her legs weaken when she finally found herself alone. But she forced herself to stay there, waiting for him to come out so she could move forward. She settled into the uncomfortable wooden bench. Once she settled into the uncomfortable wooden bench, she cl

  • The billionaire's secret son   Chapter 92

The minutes dragged on, and Antonella had no idea where Benjamim had gone. She had walked through those cold corridors countless times, searching for him in every corner, but he wasn’t there. He had fled like a coward, something she never imagined he could be.Her legs were beginning to give way when she finally spotted him sitting on a bench outside the hospital. Her heart raced as their eyes met. His once bright gaze now seemed darker and colder. He was no longer wearing his immaculate suit, which gave him an air of superiority. He leaned forward, resting his elbows on his knees, finally lowering his gaze as he exhaled nervously. Not only that, but he didn’t see Antonella march determinedly toward him and stop right in front of him.Half a second later, while her heart pounded in her chest, she sat beside him, but Benjamim couldn’t bring himself to look her in the eyes.He struggled to stay calm with her so close and ready to unload a truckload of truths on him. His head was still s
