CHAPTER 8

  THIRD PERSON'S POV:-

The darkness surrounded Tracy as she kept on asking Artemis to stay awake. She tried to heal Artemis but it was too late. "Mom! Please forgive me." That's what Tracy heard before the darkness surrounded her. Tracy saw the whole world being swallowed by the darkness. She knew she didn't have any more time. She wanted to wait until the full moon. As their powers were at its peak on the night of the full moon. But fate had something else in store for both Tracy and Artemis. Tracy started taking over the weak body of Artemis. Artemis' eyes flung open as she felt an unbearable pain in her body. That pain brought her back to life. She wanted to scream but her blocked throat didn't even let her moan.

Her bones started cracking and readjusting themselves. Silver fur started covering Artemis' whole body. Her teeth turned into fangs. Her fingers were changed into paws and her nails shifted into fragile but deadly claws. Her clothes ripped off of her body. As Tracy finally shifted into her true form, the first thing she did was to heal her throat. She gasped for air as her throat was finally healed. Tracy went backwards. Until her back hit the far corner wall. She then charged at the door. She ran towards the cell door as fast as she could and hit it hard with her head. As Artemis was a human for the pack, they didn't keep her in a cell with the silver door.

Tracy broke the cell door and stepped out of the cell. She ran straight towards the stairs to get out of the dungeon. As she made her way to the ground floor, she looked around. The place looked dark. It was drowned in silence. It meant the pack was asleep. She knew there would only be a few guards on the night duties. Taking advantage of the moment, Tracy decided to free herself. Tracy tiptoed towards the main door of the mansion. She was expecting it to be locked. But she thanked God because the doors were open. She moved towards the door as quietly as possible. She was almost there when a familiar scent made her freeze in her way towards her freedom.

Tracy raised her head and sniffed. It was her. She started following the scent instead of running towards her freedom. She stopped in front of the kitchen. The woman who mistreated Artemis was sitting in the kitchen. She was devouring over roasted chicken again. Tracy licked her fangs hungrily as she saw that woman. She was hungry for food. And she was starving for sweet revenge. She slowly made her way towards the woman. She was so slow and quiet that the woman didn't hear her coming, nor did she smell Tracy. Or maybe she just didn't know that her death was staring at her. Tracy was standing beside the chair the woman was on. She was moaning in pleasure with every single bite she took.

A chunk of chicken fell on her lap. Her right hand went down to get the chunk. While she kept eating with the help of her left hand. Tracy quickly leaned over her lap and bit on her hand. Tracy ripped the woman's hand off and ate it. The woman fell on the floor, screaming in pain as her hand was bleeding. Tracy's eyes glowed as she ran upstairs instead of running towards the door. The mansion woke up because of the woman's loud screams. Tracy tiptoed towards the roof of the mansion. She went towards the edge of the roof and looked down. "It's a bad idea, Tracy. Don't do it." Artemis warned Tracy out of fear. But Tracy felt like she could make it out for some reason.

All the guards ran into the mansion to see what was happening. Tracy went backwards then ran towards the edge as fast as she could. As she reached the boundaries again, she jumped with the help of her neck legs. Artemis was nervous as the ground got closer and closer with every single passing moment. Then something happened that Artemis didn't expect. Tracy landed on her feet without a single scratch on her body. Without wasting her time, Tracy started running towards her freedom. Without looking back, she was running straight towards the Evergreen cemetery. The very place where it all started. She wanted to see what actually happened to that day. She could feel that her alpha was there.

Tracy could hear wolves running after her. She already knew that she was being chased. Tracy turned towards the trees and ran towards them. As it was night time, the treeline was pretty dark. Tracy was still running at full speed. But the wolves were not able to hear or smell her. She was so quiet as if she was running on the clouds. Tracy could smell the pack boundaries. Tracy knew that the pack boundaries were about to end. And a few minutes later, Artemis and Tracy would be free. Tracy stepped out of the pack boundaries and ran towards the cemetery. She ran towards a Mausoleum. She hid under the mausoleum until the wolves went away because they couldn't find Tracy.

Artemis sighed in relief as she also felt safe. She knew that Tracy would keep her safe. Tracy stepped out of the mausoleum. She sniffed the ground and her eyes glowed. She could smell her aloha in the ground. She started following the scent. Suddenly someone grabbed Tracy from behind. Tracy turned her head and found two huge sized wolves standing behind her, growling at her angrily. Tracy clawed the wolf whose claw was on Tracy's back. Then she ran as fast as she could. Tracy could run away. As those wolves were too strong. And even Tracy was tired of the first shift. One of the wolves clawed Tracy's back legs. She fell on the ground, groaning in pain.

Tracy opened her eyes again and found both of the wolves standing in front of her. Their claws were set on Tracy's neck. One singe wrong move and Tracy would die. Tracy couldn't help anymore. "We will run away again. Let's switch places again. We can't die here." Artemis asked Tracy to shift back. As Tracy and no other way to save Artemis, she decided to listen to Artemis. Tracy's bones started cracking as she shifted back into Artemis. Breathing heavily, Artemis wrapped her arms around her naked body while looking at the wolves in front of her. They were so huge that Artemis almost forgot to breathe in front of them. They also shifted back into their human forms. One was a man and the other was a woman. The man punched the back of Artemis' head. The darkness engulfed Artemis as she fell on the ground again and fainted.
