Chapter 3

I saw a black wolf running through the wild flower field. I felt my heart directly bounce in my chest. Could he be the mysterious guy? I was sure it was a guy since he had, chuche strong arms. I kept looking through the window and I forgot for a while that Mr. Janssens was still there. I heard him clear his throat.

'How did you know that this was going to happen?'

Mr. Janssens answered with, "because your eyes changed colors. First, I wasn't sure you were going to be the chosen one."

He directly held his hand before his mouth and said, "I couldn't tell you that yet."

Now I got curious and asked him, "What do you mean by that, that I am the chosen one?"

'Sorry I can't tell you yet.' He said.

I tried to bring something into his words, but he silenced me by keeping a finger before his mouth. I heard someone coming upstairs to first aid.

'We have to go.' Mr. Janssens said.

We ran out, and we were just in time for the stairs. The doctor just crossed us without asking anything. We were in luck and when we came down the stairs we each went our separate ways, and it was already time for detention. Knowing my knee was healed, I had to go there. I didn't want to go because then I had to go walking in the dark, and I was scared in the dark.

If Mrs. Dom knew I had just gone home without a problem. She would be so angry.

I went to the classroom and there was Mrs. May waiting for all of us. The head of school looked weird at me.

'I thought you would be absent because of your knee?' She asked.

'There must be a misunderstanding. As you see, I am totally fine.' I lied to her, but it wasn't all a lie.

She gave me a doubting look, but then let me go into the classroom. I got an angry look from Ellen and Marnik. The new guy was here also. He was probably also too late, and I think we were here also because of what happened during the lunch break.

'Let's see who is here and who is not.' Mrs. May said.

'Ellen.'

Ellen put her hand up and Mrs. May kept on going with the other names.

Now I knew the new guy was called Ivan. Still, I didn't think Ivan could be the mystery guy who helped me up.

After a while, the first one to leave was Ellen. She was never late, and she was also the best student in our class. Sometimes I felt jealous because she had beauty and brains.

I didn't have either of them, so it felt kind of sad for me that my bully had it all.

Ellen waved at Marnik and Ivan, and she gave me an angry glare. She liked to make me feel bad. The feelings she gave me were only bad ones.

With that, she left the classroom and went home.

When Marnik and Ivan went home it was already dark. I felt so lonely when they left the classroom. Also, a bit scared because I was almost alone. Luckily, was Mrs. May still here.

An hour after the others left, I was done with writing the rules of the school down on a paper without lines. It was a mess and I hoped I didn't have to do it again tomorrow after school.

I felt really scared about going home already. It was dark, and I had to go walking. I didn't have the luck that my parents could bring me, so I took my broken bike and went home walking.

I felt followed, so I fastened my walk and almost ran, but I couldn't go fast with my bike by the hand. I stopped and took my phone out of my pocket and tried to reach my mom.

'Common mom, take the phone. Common.'

She didn't pick up the phone and I got more and more scared.

I even tried to speak through voice mail.

'Mom, I think I am being followed. Can you look for me? I am near the forest. I am so scared. Pick me up, please.'

I was still walking, but no mom till I almost passed the forest.

Then two blue eyes stared at me. I screamed and started to run as hard as I could. It looked like the animal followed me, but when I looked back I didn't see anything. It was like I just felt that it was there, but it wasn't anymore. Then when I passed the forest I saw a car I knew coming my way.

The car stopped, and my mom opened the door from her sight.

'Come, quickly get in. It's not safe at this time. Why are you so late?'

My mom was clearly worried, but why didn't she take my calls then?

'Mom, I was so scared. Why didn't you take my call?'

'Honey, I was working. I didn't see your calls even when I was working. I was just done when I saw them and listened to your voice mail. If it makes you feel better, I was really worried about you. Don't doubt that for a second.'

She kept talking about how sorry she was for not answering, and then she locked the door and started driving.

We were not that far from home. With the car it was just a few minutes drive and we were home. I was so happy when we arrived with something happening.

When I left the safety of the car with my mom, I ran directly to the door. Luckily, I had the key because I wanted to go quickly into the house.

When I went inside, I smelled the delicious pancakes that my dad was making in the kitchen.

'Dad, I am home.'

When I came into his sight he said, 'Wow what happened to you? It looks like you saw a ghost or something?'

'Dad, I was followed, and I didn't know you were home, so, I called mom to pick me up, and she didn't come directly. I was so scared.'

When he saw I was crying, he took me into a tight hug.

My mom came inside, and she also gave me a hug and said, "sorry, honey."

Dinner came into the kitchen, and I was so hungry I could eat everything on the plate.

I still had a question about why I could change into a werewolf, but my abilities seemed not to work yet?

Then Ava started talking to me, "you shifted early. It's just because you don't have the age yet. Maybe when you turn eighteen you will get your abilities of a werewolf.'

Then, all of a sudden, the doorbell rang and a scream followed.
