Chapter 2

I walked out, dagger in hand. As I left, the Sanctuary began to shake.

In an instant, it collapsed into ruins.

The Magus, still cursing me as a madwoman, was buried underneath.

I didn't look back. I headed straight for the Red Moon Pack estate.

But at the main gate, a guard stopped me.

He slapped my car window rudely and looked down at me. "The Alpha said no one gets in without an invite today. Go back."

Seeing the disgust in his eyes, I realized he thought I was Anna.

We looked exactly alike, like two peas in a pod.

Anna used to say she never felt lonely because when she missed me, she could just sleep holding a mirror.

It felt like I was hugging her.

I fought back the tears and looked at the captain of the guards.

"Aren't you afraid I'll tell the Alpha about your attitude?"

He burst out laughing.

The other guards behind him cracked up too, whispering among themselves.

"Does she still think she's the precious princess from when the old Luna was around?"

"Tell the Alpha? Like he or Alpha Jace would even care."

"Right? Last time Wyatt slapped her in public, she came crying to the Alpha and couldn't even get past the gate."

"I remember that. I was on duty. I heard she got really sick after that. I was actually worried for a bit since she's Jace's sister. But guess what? Jace gave me a bonus for doing a good job with security, haha."

Amidst their harsh laughter, it dawned on me: Anna's life had been ten thousand times worse than I could have ever imagined.

The second year after I entered the Sanctuary, Alaric brought Stella to the estate.

On her first day, she broke the amulet I left for Anna.

Alaric was furious—at Anna.

"You know Stella just got here and she's an orphan. Why are you showing off?"

So, Anna's toys, dresses, and jewelry all became Stella's.

In her third year, she pushed Anna down the stairs.

Jace just looked at Anna coldly, full of disgust.

"Framing Stella like this... I can't believe you're my sister!"

In her fifth year, even Anna's mate, Wyatt, fell for Stella.

If it weren't for the mate bond I set up for them before I left, she would have had to give up her mate, too.

The captain leaned down, smirking.

"I call you princess, and you really think you're royalty. Miss Stella is the apple of the Alpha and Jace's eyes now. If you know what's good for you..."

Before he could finish, I pushed the car door open and slit his throat with my dagger.

He died without making a sound.

The others freaked out and backed away.

"You killed the captain! Miss Stella promoted him!"

"Go tell the Alpha!"

I ignored the fleeing guards, crouched down, and carefully cut out the captain's tongue.

A mouth that only speaks garbage is better off gone.

Ignoring the blood on me, I walked step by step toward the banquet hall.

The grand annual pack gala was in full swing.

Alaric was looking lovingly at Stella.

"Stella is gentle, kind, and capable. From now on, she is the rightful eldest daughter of the Red Moon Pack..."

I raised my hand and knocked over the champagne tower, cutting Alaric off.

As everyone stared at me, I said softly, "Did you ask my permission to make her your eldest daughter?"
